In pharmaceutical manufacturing processes such as compression and packing of particles, adhesion of fine particles causes various problems, and often prevents smooth automation. Moreover, for the design of inhalation powder, the adhesive force of particles of active ingredient is an important parameter for dispersion and discharge of particles from device surface and capsules. In these situations, flow-promoting agents are used for modification of particle surfaces. In this study, we studied the control of adhesive force between potato starch particles by the surface modification method, and developed a measurement system of adhesive force between fine particles. It was shown that titanium oxide, light anhydrous silicic acid and talc reduce the adhesive force. The adhesive force was significantly determined by the physical properties of surface-modified particles such as angle of repose and triboelectrification.
