Abstract
In vivo study on the conjugation of 4-[14C]cortisol in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of normal and CCl4-treated dogs was carried out. Ten min after the injection of 4-[14C]cortisol, about 3 ml of CSF was withdrawn and conjugation of 4-[14C]cortisol was assayed. Both sulphate and glucuronide conjugations of cortisol in the CSF of the dog treated with CCl4 in vivo were found to be decreased as compared with those in the normal dog, indicating that conjugation of cortisol in the CSF is markedly influenced by liver dysfunction.
