Though the oxidase and the peroxidase reaction of blood leucocytes run parallel to each other in intensity, yet there is an exceptional case in the physiological state, as the mast cell of the guinea-pig, and in the pathological statc such an exceptional case as the “striatal blood symptom” (or the “striatal blood picture”). In such cases it is of course convenient if it is possible to apply both reactions on one and the same blood film. And we have devised different methods of simultaneous peroxidase-oxidase stain, of which the first described is the best: namely, _??_ air-drying of blood film, application of aqueous benzidine solution containing hydrogen peroxide, cnsuing application of cosin solution and then of oxidase reagent; final application of alcohol.
