Abstract
In the first series of experiments* the result of methanol poisoning was compared between the control group of mice with no previous treatment and the yakriton group of mice injected with different amounts of yakriton. The control group showed 100% mortality, the group with a previous injection of 1/10 R. A. U. of yakriton showed only 40% mortality, and that with a previous treatment of 1/100 R. A. U. of yakriton, 80% mortality.
From this series of experiments it will be seen that yakriton is prophylactically effectual for the detoxication of methanol poisoning. Then the second series of experiment was performed with the difference that methanol and yakriton were injected daily, though the amount of methanol was half as large. In this series, again the control group of mice (with no yakriton) showed 100% mortality, the group with the use of 1/100 R. A. U. of yakriton 70% mortality and the group with 1/10 R. A. U. showed only 30% mortality. It may be possible that, if an adequate of units of yakriton are used, the whole group will be rescued from methanol poisoning.
