If yakriton is subcutaneously injected in the amount of 1 R. A. U. (Rabbit-Ammonia-Units) per kilo of body weight into b-(low-) and f-(high-) classed rabbits, then the blood picture will change as described below: (1) Total white cell count. In the 3rd or the 5th hour after the injection, leucocytes will increase to about twice the number obtained before the injection. The restoration of the number to normal will not always occur on the next day. During the whole course of one week following the injection, they will show a slight leucocytosis in b-classed animals, and a slight leucopenia in f-classed ones.
(2) Lymphatic cells. They will show a decrease in number relatively, after the injection, reaching the maximum (of decrease) in the 3rd hour in b-classed animals, and in the 4th hour in f-classed ones. During the course of one week following the injection almost no change in b-classed animals, but they will show a lymphocytosis on the 2nd and the 3rd day in f-classed ones.
(3) Myeloid cells. They will show a remarkable increase in number, absolutely as well as relatively, after the injection, reaching the maximum (of increase) in the 3rd hour in b-classed animals, and in the 4th hour in f-classed ones. During the course of one week following the injection, almost no change in b-classed animals, and a myelopenia on the 2nd and the 3rd day in f-classed ones.
(4) Nuclear shift. The grade of nuclear shift will reach the maximum on the 4th hour after the injection, and it will become in the b-classed, two or three times, and in the f-classed, three or four times more severe than before the injection. The restoration of the shift to normal will not always occur on the next day. The shift is due to an increase of cells with rod-shaped nucleus, and of those of Type II, and, of course, to a decrease of those of Types III, IV and V.
