The feed value of Mycotorula japonica, harvested from sulfite liquor was investigated by feeding experiments with rat and chick. Albino rats, fed on a synthetic diet in which 30% of torula yeast was a sole source of protein, caused a moderate hepatic necrosis in one month, but the disease was disappeared by the longer feeding. The methionine content of torula yeast was about one fourth of brewers' yeast. Torula yeast was superior to the soybean meal or brewers' yeast for chick growth when fed on a ten percent level in the feed.
