FAD was produced by Eremothecium ashbyii in the yield of 60-120mg per liter of culture medium containing 1% of glucose or sucrose, 1.5% of peptone and 0.1% of corn steep liquor. A large portion of FAD was contained in mycelia and the content was 20-40 mg per g on a dry base. Nearly the same results were obtained using a fermenter of two tons in capacity. If sugar, peptone, corn steep liquor or inositol was supplied in excess the growth of fungi was accelerated and the content of FAD was decreased. When digested star fish was supplied instead of peptone, the growth of mycelia was incresed not affecting the FAD content.
