The injection of vitamin D_2 to rachitic infants and animals resulted in a decreased excretion of calcium, iron, and phosphorus and an increase in potassium excretion. The amount of copper excretion was slightly decreased and that of sodium showed a slight tendency of increase. The contents of calcium and phosphorus in the bone, muscle, liver, and small intestinal wall of rachitic animals were increased and those of iron and copper in the bone, iron in the large intestinal wall, and copper in the the small intestinal wall of rachitic animals were also remarkably increased by the injection of vitamin D_2. The potassium content in the bone, liver, small and large intestinal walls, stomach wall, and heart was decreased without exception.
