Decomposition to lumichrome from FAD through several pathways occurred in aqueous solution even in a dark place. At the same time, ultra-violet absorption specific to adenine moiety disappeared. It was, therefore, presumed that the adenine moiety of FAD was decomposed to one or more substances which showed no absorption of ultraviolet rays. Furthermore, it was found that the phosphate group of FAD was liberated in inorganic forms.
