Experimental studies on the uptake of ^<14>C-labelled vitamin A in several organs were done for female rats weighing 150-200 g by means of liquid scintillation method. The uptake of vitamin A-^<14>C was investigated on the hypophysis, adrenals, uterus, ovary, blood, liver, intestinal contents, feces and urine at the expected times. The uptake of hypophysis in nonpregnant state was low in comparison with other organs. It was recognized, that the adrenals had the affinity with vitamin A and it was retained for long time. In the ovary and uterus, vitamin A was rapidly expended. The absorption from the intestine was very high and discharge rate in the intestinal contents, feces and urine was low. The placental permeability for vitamin A was better in 14th day than 18th day of pregnancy.
