Thiamine value of blood and amount of thiamine excretion from urine after the oral administration of 1-400mg (equivalent to thiamine hydrochloride) of dicarbethoxythiamine (DCET) in the form of one or two pills just after a breakfast to healtry young women were investigated comparing with those of thiamine and thiamine disulfide. Highest value of thiamine in blood was around 3 hours after DCET administration and decreased to a normal level after 24hours, but remained higher than a normal level when more than 200mg of DCET were given. Thiamine value of blood 3 hours after the administration more than 5mg of DCET was higher than those given equivalent amounts of thiamine or thiamine disulfide. The increase of thiamine excretion from urine during 4 and 24 hours after administration of DCET and the intake of DCET were almost linear, which was not observed when thiamine or thiamine disulfide were administered.
