The fluorometric assay method of pyridoxine, which has been reported by the auth-or, is not directly applicable to urine, in which the pyridoxine level is low and 4-pyridoxic acid exists predominantly, since the latter disturbs the result by reacting as pyridoxine. For obtaining the real value of pyridoxine, 4-pyridoxic acid is removed from the solution by passing through the column of Amberlite IRA-410-acetate form and an aliquot of the effluent is analyzed for pyridoxine. Another aliquot is subjected to nitrite treatment in order to obtain the total value of pyridoxine and pyridoxamine. The detailed procedure and the effects of various conditions were reported.
