The physicochemical methods for determination of vitamin D which have so far been reported, can scarecely be applied to fish liver oils, possessing very low vitamin D potency. The author investigated the method of Fujita, Nagase and Aoyama (1954), using a some-what larger chromatographic column (15×6cm). The recoveries were found to be 99%, error interval being 7%. The vitamin D potency of pollack liver oil (about 3,000 I.U./g) was determined within the confidence limits of 13.2%.
