It was found that thienylalkylsuccinimide derivatives (1) had potent antiulcer activities. In order to study structure-activity relationships, four kinds of imide derivatives (1-4) were prepared and tested for antiulcer activities. Among these compounds, succinimide derivatives (1a-c, h) and glutarimide derivative (2a) showed potent antiulcer activities. As the most preferred compound, N-{2-(2-thienyl) ethyl} succinimide (1b) was selected.
