1. The metabolic end product of nitrogen compounds by the homogenate of lungworm, Metastrongylus elongatus, using various amino acids as substrate, was ammonia. Urea and uric acid were not detected.
2. The activities of arginase and crease were not found in this lung-worm homogenate.
3. The formation of ammonia was attributed mainly to hydrolysis of α-NH2 group in amino acids, when arginine was used as a substrate.
The ammonia formation from nucleotides was observed, as is the case in amino acids, but was not perceptible from amine.
4. Transamidinase and transaminase activities were recognized.
