The chemical structure of panaxynol, a new component of the essential oil of Korean ginseng, was examined and a new structure of 1, 9-cis-heptadecadiene-4, 6-diyn-3-ol was proposed. Total synthesis of this compound was successfully concluded and the synthesized product was found to agree completely with the natural panaxynol.
