A certain number of 3-(3, 4-dimethoxy or dihydroxyphenyl)piperidine derivatives has been synthesized for biological evaluation. The action of these derivatives was studied on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems of anesthetized rats and isolated guinea-pig heart. In conclusion, 1-benzyl-2-methyl-3-(3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl)piperidine, compd. (21), exhibited a strong respiratory stimulating activity.
