    In view of the changes in the social structure accompanying the progress of the 4th Industrial Revolution, educational reforms are being promoted with the aim of building the abilities necessary for children living in a new age. Finding solutions to unexpected problems and fostering creativity and critical thinking to create new values are urgently needed, and this has become a modern demand for art education. STEAM education is perhaps the most significant manifestation of this. In this article, in order to clarify the role and position of Arts in STEAM education, the author examined the historical context of STEM education, which was the predecessor of STEAM education, the viewpoint of arts integration, and the viewpoint of art education policy, and clarified the integration principle. In addition, STEAM education that clarifies the role and position of Arts (Art) was examined, and constructed a learning design based on the STEAM lesson framework.
