This research suggests that merits and demerits of digital contents learning Japanese folk dance in Akita. Digital contents mean teaching material using multi-media. As digital content, DVD and some new computer device which we developed was used. This device works to observe movement and compare a skilled person and student using game controller with 3D-CG animation. Using this device collected data with motion capture system, we can zoom, change angle, place one animation figure to top of another.
From results of a questionnaire, most of students have positive impression using digital contents, because they recognized as that kinds of contents work well to remember some phrase of dance movement, practice repetition exactly timing for learning as they like. And through this practice, from evaluation questionnaire, student could feel doing independent learning well using digital contents. Especially, compare viewer from a skilled person’s movement to student’s made clear a difference about an angle of arms or legs, extend shape, speed and timing. From a result of pre-post testing, student’s movements improve closer to a skilled person’s movement. And after using this viewer student recognize movement in the detail and deeply with thinking their own movement. However, still there were some demerits. It were a. Technical problem, b. Student’s negative feeling using computer it self and need more time to remember how to manipulate this system, c. Shortage of support contens for student’s independent learning, d. Intrinsic problem digital contents never covered.
