Recently, a number of hazardous disasters occurred everywhere in the world. In Japan, though the administrative sections have performed to construct structures for measures to protect people by hazards, it is important that the people evacuate in the event of disasters adequately. In this study, some questionnaires and field investigations were carried out on the effectiveness of emergency announcement systems installed in coastal fishery communities facing Pacific Ocean. Also, some ways to improve emergency announcement systems are discussed.
