Photocurrent at SnO2/Rhodamine B (aqueous solution) interface was measured at various pH. It became apparent from the time dependence of photocurrent that after photoanodic process the dark cathodic process (D++e-→D) occurred by tunneling through the space charge layer. The reverse cathodic current decreased with increase of pH. Photocurrent due to the photoelectrochemical reaction was detected by using high pH solution and lock-in amplifier. Photocurrent vs. electrode potential characteristics can not be interpreted by the electron transfer theory considering only solvent polarization.

This paper deals with carrier deposition of magnetic brush development which causes a fatal defect on printing output. Experiments show that carriers adversely deposit onto a recording layer when a potential difference between recording layer and magnetic brush is more than a critical value. The critical potential difference is greatly influenced by recording layer-magnetic brush contact condition and is not influenced by the electric field direction. Accordingly, it is clarified that the carrier deposition mechanism is same as that of conductive magnetic toner development.

The electrophotographic properties of a photoreceptor composed of powdered ZnO dispersed in poly N-vinylcarbazole (PVK) for carrier generation layer and PVK for carrier transport layer has been investigated.
Despite of the poor charge retention ability of the ZnO-PVK layer, the conspicuous effect due to thermal carriers is well controlled by the aid of the PVK layer in the double layer structure. The photo-induced discharge is concerned with the generation of photoholes in the ZnO-PVK layer as well as its transport via PVK medium. Furthermore, the generation efficiency is found to be affected by a dielectronic relaxation process associated with strong electronic interation between PVK and ZnO.

Sensitization mechanism in charge carrier photogeneration was investigated from the pulse photocurrent measurements in a poly-N-vinylcarbazole (PVCz) film sensitized by a charge transfer (CT) complex with an electron acceptor, 1, 2, 4, 5-tetracyanobenzene (4 CNB). The wavelength dependence of ion pair quantum yieldon light irradiation supported the previously reported mechanism of extrinsic charge carrier photogeneration involving the ion pair formation from a higher excited state of the CT complex having an excited hole as a component and the field-assisted thermal dissociation of the ion pair.
