Two-Dimensional Magnetic Recording (TDMR) requires advanced signal processing schemes. In order to develop and to evaluate such schemes, a computationally tractable simulation model for a TDMR system is indispensable. In this paper, an implementation of such a simulation model called a discrete Voronoi grain model is discussed.

The optimum GPR target for Ba-ferrite tape systems was studied. The comparison among DC-free, DC-full, and DC-suppressed targets was made. Assuming GPRML detector with 16 or more Viterbi states, DC-free target generally showed the best bit error rate performance for both longitudinally and perpendicularly oriented media.

The magneto-optical observation method is quite useful technique for the real-time detection of magnetic domain locations in magnetic nanowires. In this study, we have fabricated 150-500 nm width [Co/Pd] nanowires with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and succeeded to observe the magnetic domains by the magneto-optical imaging.

Two types of novel two-photon sensitized recording media were developed; the fluorescent dye generation type media and fluorescent quench type media, and two-photon recording inside both the media using femtosecond laser was demonstrated. The signal modulation vs. recording power relationship showed quadratic dependency in both the media. The obtained fluorescent signal intensity from the quench type media is several times higher than that from the fluorescent dye generation type media.

We evaluated the hologram distortion using optimized wavefront of reference beam that compensates for the distortion optically. Phase distributions of optimized wavefronts in every data page are different from original wavefront but they are similar to each other. This indicates that hologram distortions are similar in every data page.

We have already reported that the signal of single frequency pattern can be used for focus signal. A pick up method of focus signal using page data is proposed in this paper. We tried 3 types of mask pattern such as large circle, small circle, and straight line. Single frequency signal can be picked up using mask of small circle from page data. As the results, this signal can be used for focus servo signal and this method is feasible because of no additional patterns for data page or no additional optical elements.

New Demosaicing method for Bayer color filter array is presented. High sensitive and high S/N CMOS color camera will be realized using this method. If B/G or R/G component has nearly same value around G elements, we could estimate B or R signal from B/G or R/G using around the picture elements. Estimating virtual Bv signal is obtained from Bv=Gv×Ba/Ga where Ba is average B signal components around a G element and Ga is average G signal component around the G element, new B signal element could be taken the vacant B element area. Similarly, virtual Rv signal is obtained from Rv=Gv×Ra/Ga.

Conventional surveillance dome cameras have employed a slip ring between camera a head and body in order to pan endlessly. We have developed the technology of contactless image signal and power transmission, so that we make the life of cameras' panning much longer from a million revolutions to 20 million revolutions due to eliminating the slip ring, whose abrasion deteriorates cameras' life span. Images are transmitted by optical coupling and power is transmitted by inductive coupling. We also succeeded in making the unit of cameras' revolution smaller and thinner because a reduction gear and a ball bearing could be united.
