In gastric cancer screening, the endoscopic diagnosis is expected to become main current in the near future. Although the diagnosis ability is required for every physician, the traditional endoscopic teaching by textbook has limitations for the endoscopic diagnosis, and it is difficult to experience diagnosis for all medical students by means of the personalized teaching by an expert instructor. In this paper, we develop a novel computer-simulation teaching material for practical endoscopic education concerning gastric cancer. The advantage of this material comes from the virtual endoscopic diagnosis with the use of video images. In this material, it is also able to evaluate quantitatively the accuracy of cancer diagnosis. In using this teaching material, the following hardware and software are needed. Personal Computer: Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Vista is installed. Web Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or 7. Questionnaires were conducted by 26 5th-year (6th-year) medical students in clinical education. Among 26 students, 22 students (85%) answered "satisfied" or "very satisfied" for this teaching material. From the results, the effectiveness of the developed material in endoscopic education was verified.
