Pressure buildup tests are used most frequently in order to estimate formation permeability and current drainage-area, and to characterize damage or stimulation and reservoir heterogeneities or boundaries.
In this report, of course, Horner plot method is most commonly applied to the analyses for the Khafji Oil Field wells, further another important analysis technique for buildup tests, using type curves, is attempted especially when ordinary semilog analysis methods cannot be reliable. As for the analyzed data, several types of reservoir configulations and conditions are included, for example, sandstone or limestone reservoir, two-layer reservoir, and before and/or after acidizing etc. During the study, it is shown how the most appropriate values are derived from pressure buildup data and how credible the values are, considering available data such as cores or electric logs.
