    Well integrity management has been highlighted as a major theme in oil and gas industry after Macond blowout incident in 2010. JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation(“JX Nippon”)has established and implemented systems named JX Well Integrity Management System(“JX WIMS”)and JX Well Delivery Management System(“JX WDMS”), by which JX Nippon is enabled to effectively manage well integrity risk at any stage of well life cycle. As a part of well integrity management process, thorough audits were carried out on all JX Nipponʼs operating wells to investigate its degree of compliance with corporate standard. Several wells revealing integrity issues such as not complied well design nor loss of well barrier effectiveness were identified, then those risks were assessed and mitigated accordingly. This paper presents on JX WIMS and an example of achievement on a gas lift producer whose risk was successfully mitigated to ALARP and deemed acceptable for continuing production.

    Approaches to enhance oil and gas recovery by artificial lift, EOR/IOR and well stimulation for existing wells have been required due to maturation of domestic oil and gas fields and decline in oil prices. However, these new approaches have not always been considered on well designs based on earlier drilling, completion and production operations and other challenges might arise later in order to maintain well integrity.

    Well Integrity was de?ned below as per NORSOK Standard D-010. “Application of technical, operational and organizational solutions to reduce risk of uncontrolled release of formation fluids and well fluids throughout the life cycle of a well”. Ichthys projects issued Well Integrity Manual to manage well integrity throughout the life cycle of a well. It defines that Drilling has custody of well integrity accountability throughout the well life cycle. This paper introduces the example of Well Integrity Management system in Ichthys project.

    In recent years, the needs for WIMS (Well Integrity Management System) have been recognized worldwide. In response to the demand from Japanese E&P companies, JOGMEC conducted a trend survey of well integrity in 2012.

    We recognized the importance of WIMS, through our experience on the abandonment of an experimental well in Kashiwazaki test field (TF) during 2016-2017.

    In 2018, we prepared a WIMM (Well Integrity Management Manual)for the remaining experimental wells in Kashiwazaki TF, and in parallel, the trial of WIMS software was conducted using actual field data with the cooperation of a Japanese E&P company.

    Introduce the general outline of WIMS and JOGMECʼs approach on WIMS.

    Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. is carrying out research and development of multipurpose work vessels in collaboration with Japan Marine United (JMU). This is being conducted under the support of the Japan Foundation's “Nippon-Scotland Joint Ocean Development Joint Technology Development Program”.     Abstract:Well integrity has been getting more importance for the oil and gas well construction over the entire E&P industry especially after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. With such the trend in the industry, each operator company has tightened their well integrity standards to be complied for their operation. To reduce the risk of well integrity, operational and technical solutions are crucial and those are the mission of a service company to provide in the industry. Therefore, we introduce the recent technology development of a service company in this paper. Firstly, well barrier planning cloud solution is introduced as a core of well integrity. Secondly, cementing operation and slurry selections are focused. Lastly, recent cement evaluation technology is described.

    Abstract:Well integrity is one of the most important considerations in wells engineering and requires technical measures to reduce the risk of uncontrolled release and leakage of formation fluids during drilling, well completions, production, and abandonment stages. Many casing damage incidents and well integrity issues caused by subsidence and reservoir compaction have been reported in HPHT oil and gas fields in the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. This study presents lessons learned from casing failure events reported overseas and also discusses how to deal with these well integrity issues from geomechanics aspects.
