The current research discusses the situation of women migrants to Japan from the Far East of Russia who enter into marital relationship with the Japanese men. Special attention is given to the issues of Russia-Japan relations and such factors as historical, socioeconomic and gender situation shifts that help better understand the dynamics and drives behind the act of migration as well as the lives of these women in Japan.
The two Jewish communities here in Japan (i.e. Tokyo, Kobe) had made some 'compromise' to maintain their unity. However, in order to satisfy the needs of Orthodoxy and the interests of women, each took a different measure; a split between the Orthodox and the Conservative with a female rabbi, and further split within the ultra-Orthodox (cf. definition of 'messiah'), and hiring an Orthodox rabbi and some women's departure.
Moderniazation of Asia brings about modernization of reproduction which manifests mainly as medicalization of childbirth. In Asia medicalization has yet less impact on postparutm period where traditional local customs still prevail. We hope this session gives larger perspectives to current obstetrical problems in Japan and also it shows another perspective to reproduction research done in the West.
In this presentation I examine mahu and raerae, transgender and transsexuality in French Polynesia. I argue that more people in Tahiti than those in Bora Bora distinguish mahu from raerae by explaining mahu as traditional and natural and raerae as modern and artificial because raerae in Tahiti stand out as prostitute while raerae in Bora Bora are more integrated into the society.
When considering polyandry which is one of the marriage forms of the Tibetan,to pay attention only about the distribution of polyandry and their family which was done by the conventional research. It focuses on the wife of polyandry and it analyzes from where the wife married in and in what process it married and also whether or not the wife recognized that it did polyandry no matter how. By moreover, that analyze to be related between the coming village of the wife and the village in the marrying-in place and so on from the role which exists in the village. It considers the forming mechanism of polyandry from the view point of the woman who becomes a wife.
