For the Kaska, Canadian indidenous people, hunting is not only activity for resource acquisition but relation with animak spirit and practice a religion. power, such as a relation with animals and make people sick is recognized as realm of "non (medicine)". In this presentation I examine what is Kaska view of religion through the analysis of knowledge and practices of "non" based on field data.

This paper puts forward two questions regarding the US operation in Iraq and plight of Iraqi refugees in Syria. The first question: why do the public, including anthropologists, and mass media pay scant attention to the situation of Iraqis both under occupation and those who have been displaced by the war? The Second: why are these displaced Iraqis not at the forefront of anthropological discussion?

Despite the burgeoning literature dealing with the formation of eco-rational subjects under the neoliberal governmentality of global environmentalism, an aspect that remains in need of careful examination is the complexity of the agentive practices by the resource users, which is carried out in the matrix of power relations inherent in a particular resource management regime. The presentation discusses on the agency of resource users, which engages in various practices to expand the social space in which an alternative pattern of resource use can be made possible.

Even in Lampung province, Indonesia, the local government carries out lot of projects for promoting its regional culture. However, these are not sustainable projects but most of those are to be changed, reduced, or frustrated in few years from its start. But, doing such projects is indispensable action for local bureaucrats, local politicians, and even for local scholars who would take part of these projects.
This presentation examines how they consumes the regional culture in the shape of "project".

This paper describes a Hakka community and the identity affiliation of their past which is associated with a temple. In the 1960s during the communist insurgency, they were forced out of their original land, and were relocated to another place. The temple still remains in its original location, and has become an entity which the community attest high importance to, which they identify as the beginning of their origins, thus reaffirm their identity in present day life.

The kindergarten market in Japan is rapidly changing. The low number of children has resulted in a growing struggle among kindergartens to attract them. This presentation, by considering children as a common-pool resource (CPR), examines the situation in Akita City. It shows how mothers, and also households, are benefitting in terms of convenience due to competition among kindergartens for their children.
