The new electricity generation system by means of Silicon semiconductor has been investigated since 1974 in Japan as one of the new energy development projects. The projects are divided into three parts. The first part is to develop efficient semiconductor to transform solar-ray in electric energy and the second part is to study distribution and s torage system and the third part is to study the feasible and economical construction method for solar panel supporting system.
Since the wind load takes a primary important role for design of solar panel supporting system. a series of wind tunnel tests had been conducted to clarify the wind loads on them by use of scaled models. Some worthy fundamental informations obtained here, especially the grouping effects of solar panels on the wind loads, are described in this paper.
