Feedback control is an important concept in understanding measurement and control systems. Teaching materials that can be learned through experimental and experiential activities are required for performing technology education in junior high school. In this paper, authors aim to evaluate the usefulness of servomotor as the teaching material that can learn the measurement and control system. The teaching material for measurement and control system using the servomotor designed and manufactured to satisfy specifications established from an educational point of view was mentioned. After introducing the developed teaching material to the measurement and control learning in technology education, the four point scale questionnaire survey was performed. Since the averages of six survey items on “interest and concern, terms, roles” and “operations, displaying contents and measurement method of the teaching material” were more than 3, the usefulness was clarified.

In this paper, we proposed and evaluated design and production learning, including the design and redesign process, using 3D-CAD as a teaching tool for junior high school students. In the teaching practice in junior high school technology education, we verified the learning effects of the design and redesign process using 3D-CAD. It was found that (1) 3D-CAD can support the representation of students’ design and redesign ideas, and can support the understanding of learning significance. (2) Additionally, in the redesign process proposed in this research, the problem-solving experience improves, especially in the factors of the “inquiring process.” (3) Finally, motivation for learning is improved by setting a redesign process.

Based on the July, 2013 cabinet decision, “Declaration on the Creation of the World’s Most Advanced IT Nation” and the obligation to provide computer programming instruction in elementary schools starting in 2020, various types of computer programming instruction have been recently attempted. In this study, about 20 sixth grade pupils in computer programming classes were introduced to a visual programming tool, called Scratch. Five classes were taken in the Period for Integrated Studies not to interfere with the students’ regular school day. Using information found from tests on labyrinths, the students’ artwork, and each student’s impression of the course from before and after the class was introduced, the student’s ability to use programming thinking logically, and to combine the control structure of programming (sequence, iteration, selection), was evaluated. It was found that most of the pupils already were able to construct an algorithm composed of sequences and iteration, although they did not fully understand selection. Moreover, the study revealed that most of the pupils have interest in computer programming learning.

A 3D printer is a processing machine that works by an easy operation at a high speed on complex shapes. In recent years, the 3D printer has become popular and can be acquired at a low cost. The 3D CAD software requires creating 3D data. It has become popular as numerous free software programs have emerged for 3D data modeling, and they are able to create the data easily. Therefore, teaching materials were developed for use in the industrial arts and home economics courses at the junior high school. They asked students to learn the design process in manufacturing by utilizing a 3D printer to make a parts tray. And the teaching materials are verified in a practice lecture. As the results of a questionnaire, it was shown that learning the process of manufacturing was achieved. Moreover, the teaching materials enhanced the interests and concerns of
