UDB (ultra dialytic battery) I type generator was constructed and tested by changing saline water concentration (3.5, 6, 8, 10%) and pile up number of ion-exchange filters. Additionally the effects of open area of each filter and flow rate on the output power were also examined.

UDB (Ultra dialytic battery) type I generator was improved to Usual DB (Dialytic battery) generator. Improved Points was, that an holes in a part of the Ion-Exchange filters was opened, and Salin water was pressured. As a resalt, the Internal resistance of New type was obtained as 20Ω, where on usual DB generator indicated as 80Ω. And the electrical power of New type generator was increased about 2.5 time larger than that of the usual DB generator.

The Ni-MH rechargeable battery has been frequently used for recent new electric vehicles and hybrid type vehicles. Our solar car team has investigated the cathodes of Ni-MH rechargeable battery. For our investigations, we have used a sintered Ni(OH)2 electrode as anode for our battery. However, this conventional anode was found to show discharge capacity less than that of cathode of a hydrogen storage alloy. In addition, the weight of the anode was much larger than that of the cathode when compared in a same size. In this study we succeeded to decrease the weight of anode and to increase the discharge capacity of anode by adding Ag2O into Ni(OH)2.

Zinc metal leaves which were grown two dimensionally by electrodeposition were experimentally investigated Special attention was given to the dependence of their morphology on growing temperature. Results of the fractal analysis by means of the box-counting method indicates that a form of the dendritic Zn-crystal is fractal and its fractal dimension D increases linearly with the growing temperature. Relation between the temperature dependence of D and the change in the crystal morphology has been discussed.

Although we experienced much snow in January 1998 at Kanto area, we had not seen remarkable snow accumulation in Shonan campus of the Tokai University and its environs. In order to clarify the reason, observed wind data at 10th building of the campus were compared with the AMEDAS data at surrounding sites in 1998. it is found that monthly mean land-sea breeze component can be seen commonly in monthly mean daily change of southerly wind ol Kanagawa prefecture. As an interesting feature of meteorological properties of the Shonan campus of Tokai University, it may be pointed out that the sea breeze component is dominant even in the winter season.

As the simulated experiment of a gas divertor in a fusion reactor, we measured ion temperature of He and Ne sheet plasma by using visible spectroscopy. The ion temperature shows 1.5[eV] for He+, and 4.7[eV] for Ne+. The larger the discharge current, the larger the ion temperature becomes. On the other hand, increase of gas flow rate shows the decrease of ion temperature.

The auto-correlation measurement using a photo-conductive switch was performed utilizing the non-linear photo-current. A CPM dye laser and a Kerr lens mode-locked (KLM) Ti: sapphire laser were used as a light source. The auto-correlation signals obtained by using the SHG system and the photo-conductive switch were compared. Almost the same pulse widths were observed for these pulses. It was found that non-linearity of photo-current depend on the laser wavelength and height of Shottkey barrier.

To improve the utilization of hydrogen peroxide, a Mist Jet-Singlet Oxygen Generator (MJ-SOG), which is a new type SOG for the Chemical Oxygen-Iodine Laser (COIL), has been developed. An excitation rate of the singlet oxygen O2 (1Δ) was as high as 68.6% with flow rates of BHP and Cl2 gas, 2.37ml/s and 1.68mmol/s, respectively. The construction of the MJ-SOG and its reaction processes are discussed.

Chemical oxygen iodine laser with Microwave dischage dissociation of iodine is studied. It has been understood by the research done before that laser power was not enough enhancement. Because the high pressure of iodine mixed point causes diactivation of singlet oxygen. In this reserch, to reduce diactivation, it is shown that supersonic mixing, where oxygen flow and iodine flow are mixed at supersonic flow velocity, affect to reduce the mixing point pressure. Therefore, lamp nozzle was adopted to make up for the difficult mixing of the supersonic mixture. Chemical efficiency of 15.7 percent is obtained as a result. However, because pressure in microwave cavity point was high, dissociation was not enough, and output power enhancement is not obtained. Lower iodine pressure at the mixing point will be required to achieve the higher dissociation.

Lighting can be expected not only as an illumination but also as an effective environment that shows mental and physical influences to human. Our aim is quantification of the influences in order to utilize the effect of lighting positively. Our goal is realization of comfortable environment with use of light. In this experiment, we quantitated the relation between lighting environment and working efficiency by using the Kraepelin test. We found that human could keep concentration longer period under the environment with varying light than with constant light.

We measured temperatures of He neutral particle and of Ne neutral particle in sheet plasma with the visible spectroscopy. The temperature of neutral particle for Ne was not dependent on the parameters i. e. the flow rate of Ne gas and the discharge current, while the temperature of neutral particle for He was dependent on the discharge current and not dependent on the flow rate of He gas. The temperature of He neutral particle tended to increase a little with the increase of discharge current.

The M-sequence is used in the field of the time domain information theory because of sharp auto-correlation characteristic. We proposed to use the sequence in a spatial domain such as a bar-cord maker for a range meter. It could be confirmed that the M-sequence bar-cord could be used with range meter as a result.

Conceptual designs of a Chemical Oxygen-Iodine Laser (COIL) facility for decommissioning and dismantlement (D&D) of nuclear facility is proposed. The requisite output power and beam quality was determined based on our preliminary experiments of nonmetal material processing. Assuming the laser power of 30kW it is derived that the begun quality of M2=36 is required to cut a biological shield wall (1000mm thickness) of a nuclear power plant at a cutting speed of 10mm/min. Then the requisite specification of an optical fiber to deliver the laser is calculated. The mass flow and heat balance of proposed facility is calculated based on our recent COIL studies. With the high-pressure subsonic mode, the vacuum pump size is minimized compared to the supersonic operation. Finally, the size of facility is estimated assuming two-hour continuous operation. It is revealed that such a system can be packed in five railway containers (6058mm×2438mm×2438mm).

We made a program for prediction by the neural network. We showed this program's flowchart in the dissertation. We carried out a prediction's experiment by changing input number. We valued this result by graph and the fractal dimension. As this result, 10 changed short-terminable to the optimum from unit number of 7.
