Microporous structure of anodized alumina films formed in an acid electrolyte has been duplicated to other materials in high fidelity. In anodic oxidation of aluminum, the size and number of the micropores can precisely be controlled by the applied voltage, the kind and the concentration of the electrolyte used. The duplication of this microstructure is established by either electrodeposition of metals, chemical deposition of metals, sol-gel method or replica method using polymerization of resin.
The duplicated materials can be applied to the functional electrodes, optical grating film, microfilters or columnarly blent composite resin.

The ALBAC is a prototype of autonomous underwater vehicle which was designed and constructed for oceanographic measurement of water column on the way and from seabed. The ALBAC has a pair of wings which provide large lift force to move horizontally without consuming energy of batteries. Major equipment including control actuators is installed in one pressure hull. Since these apparatuses are not exposed to the sea water, the actuators are not effected by environment resulting in significantly high reliability.
To ensure the total system performance, experiments in sea were conducted and distribution of water temperature was simultaneously measured.

The thermal annealing effects of stacking layer Ni/C were studied by using Rutherford back scattering (RBS), optical reflection, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction and X-ray reflection methods. In RBS measurement, diffusion phenomena were observed at higher annealing temperature than 350°C. In the other methods, remarkable changes were also observed in respective spectral profiles for the layers annealed at the temperature higher than 500°C. The density of Ni metal film was estimated as 82% of bulk materials.

As it is known, helium-cadmium laser oscilates the wavelengths of 442nm and 325nm. The wavelength of 442nm isused in the field of high technical industry because of its shortest continuous wavelength in the visible area. Recentry applications of ultra violet area are growing. So we developed high power ultra violet helium-cadmium laser which power was 100mW. We tried to use new mirrors which are polished by using the technics of higher grade than normal optical polishing technics.
