This paper presents the method, which improved the efficiency of the electric discharge grinding very much, and results of experiments for recognition of the effects of the method. This method of the electric discharge grinding is performed by the compound grinding effects of the multi-circuit electric discharge and the abrasive grains.
The experimental results got by using the 30-circuit apparatus and the compound grinding apparatus applied this method are as follows:
(1) The grinding speed of the 30-circuit electric discharge grinding is 24-27 times in case of RC circuit, and 26-29 times in case of transistor pulse circuit, as large as that of a usual single-circuit system.
(2) The relation between the total grinding speed (
M1) of multicircuit and the number of circuits (
n) can be shown by the experimental equation
Mn=
naM1, where (
M1) shows the grinding speed of a singlecircuit and values of constant (
a) varies according to the grinding conditions.
(3) The compound grinding effect enables the roughness of the grinding surface to decrease.
(4) Compounding the abrasive grains has made it easy to control an automatic feeding of the electric discharge grinding, in addition to which the compressible grinding has made possible without an automatic feeding.
