The purpose of this study is comparison of Telemark turn and Alpine (parallel) turn in visualization with graphs of distribution of strains on Telemark ski in turning. We had designed a measuring apparatus for strain on ski in turning with beam timing system. The measuring apparatus made us visualize the deflection of ski with graphs of distribution of strains on ski in turning. There are two types of Telemark ski, long and skinny one and short and fat one. We interested in the type of long and skinny Telemark ski. Because the long and skinny Telemark ski is so light and useful for ski touring which has so many up and down hill courses in snow hill area. The Telemark turn named for the region of its chief proponent, Norwegian Sondre Norheim. The characteristic of Telemark turn is heel-free position on inside and back ski in turning. The characteristic of Alpine (parallel) turn is a parallel stance in turning. We had measured the distribution of strains on Telemark ski in Telemark turn and Alpine (parallel) turn on 90m of length and 11° of compacted snow slope that had 4 flags at intervals of 20m. We had timed by 10 beams timing system at intervals of 10m . The Telemark ski had 8 strain gages on right and left side ski. The subject was a certified ski instructor both in Austria and Japan.
    The following results were obtained:
    1) The graphs of distribution of strains in Telemark turn show bending on backside ski in turning.
    2) The graphs of distribution of strains in Alpine (parallel) turn show a few bending on both side skis in turning.

The objectives of this research are to clarify the difference in instruction methods between carving ski and normal ski in the case of beginners' instruction, and to compare the difference in attitude regarding instruction methods between college teachers and ski-school instructors. The subjects were a total of 211 people, including physical education teachers of colleges and instructors of ski-schools.
As the result of this survey, the following things became clear:
    1) It was found that there is a difference in instruction methods between carving ski and normal ski instruction. In the case of carving ski instruction, carving techniques are introduced at early stages, while in the case of normal ski instruction, the technique of skidding is emphasized. On the other hand, the problems with the beginners' instruction, safety-considered content, the learning environment, and the selecting slope and lines did not vary according to the type of ski.
    2) Ski instructors tended more to modify the instruction methods according to the type of ski. In addition, it was found that ski instructors emphasize the viewpoint of the control of ski boards, while college teachers place emphasis on the viewpoint of the control of the skier's body.
    3) It was found that the purposes of college classes in skiing emphasize “ safety ”, “ manners, ” and “ contact with nature ” rather than skiing skills and physical strength . In addition, the study results state that college teachers focus on skiing skills and disregard physical strength compared with ski-school instructors
