The intelligent control that the recent drum-type washer dryer improves high detergency,low vibration,the low noise,basic performance such as the energy saving is demanded.l developed 3 high sensitive axis vibration sensor which detected a state of the washing clothing for one sensor to realize these precisely.By the development of this vibration sensor,detection was enabled in the detection of the state of the clothing at the time of the washing,behavior of the vibration of the low-speed spin,three-dimensional displacement of the drum.As a result,l was able to develop the intelligent drum-type washer dryer

Many air conditioners use fan systems for heat exchange.Vibratory motion and noise in the air conditioner occur when the aerodynamic force of the rotating fan blades act on the cabinet of the air conditioner.We calculated the aerodynamic force using CFD software "PHOENICS" and compared with the aerodynamic pressure produced by the testing system.We found that the calculation results agree with experimental results.On the other hand,reaction force corresponding to the aerodynamic force occurs,and then the reaction force transmits to the motor-feet.Finally,these transmitted forces excite support-structure of the motor.We also calculated the reaction force,using the results of CFD analysis.It is clear that accuracy of CFD analysis is very important to obtain the reaction force.

We developed optimal control system for air conditioner.The optimal control system is composed of two main modules,one for calculating the optimal speed of the compressor,and one for identifying the parameter of an air conditioning load.In the calculating module,the optimal speed of the compressor is calculated using both the room temperature model and the control criterion consists of a real-time room temperature and a power consumption of the air conditioner.The identification module of the parameter estimates the heat capacity of a room and the heat transfer coefficient.After we combined both modules to control the air conditioner,several simulations were performed to investigate the response of the control system.

We have developed a head care robot equipped with scrubbing fingers.This robot assists with hair washing and scalp care in hospitals or care facilities,and it eases the burden of healthcare professionals and care workers while it brings frequent hair washing and a higher Quality Of Life(QOL) to patients and others in need of nursing care.Several elemental technologies for this robot are listed below:a cylindrical rack mechanism for self-aligning and drive-force transmission from an electric motor to multiple fingers,a five-bar closed link mechanism to expand the head scrubbing area by extension motion,and a rear pressure force control by coordinated double arm motion to switch between supporting and washing a head.In addition to them,we newly introduced an orientation correction mechanism into a five-bar closed link mechanism to keep a contact face of an end effector aligned along a surface of the head.This paper presents several elemental technologies and kinematics of a five-bar closed link mechanism,and discusses improvement of head shape following capability by using an orientation correction mechanism.

To prepare exhaustion of oil supplies,alternative lubricant which is good for environment will be required.Water is expected to be a suitable lubricant.However in water lubrication,high wear and seizure come to be problems because of water's low viscosity.Surface texturing is reported to improve these problems.So in this paper,effects of surface brush structure and wettability are investigated expecting improvement of water lubrication.Four kinds of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) specimen were prepared; flat specimen,hydrophilized flat specimen,brush specimen and hydrophilized brush specimen.The result of friction tests showed hydrophilized brush specimen was effective to decrease friction coefficient in the beginning of friction.The friction decreasing is considered to be caused by eliminating wear particles,water-holding and supplying water to sliding surfaces at brush area.

Simultaneous measurement of normal and lateral forces with accurate gap control is essential to clarify lubrication phenomena at nanometer-sliding gaps.Double ended tuning fork type quartz resonators can provide high force sensitivity by miniaturizing their dimensions.In this study,decreasing the width of the quartz oscillator down to 85μm,the minimum detection limit of the force of 0.1μN has been attained.This method is useful to evaluate the lubrication phenomena of the small mechanical elements such as MEMS and head and disk interface of hard disk drives.

Recently,Polarization Sensitive Optical Coherence Tomography(PS-OCT)has been developed as a tomographical and non-destructive visualization method of birefringence in turbid media at the micrometer resolution.In this study,a novel tomographic system of stress visualization(PS-OCSE) is proposed on the basis of PS-OCT,which can provide stress tomography from photo-elastic interference fringe pattern at a cross-section,even when a sample is turbid material under not plane stress condition but 3-dimensional stress condition.In this experiment,PS-OCSE was applied to low density polyethylene(LDPE) samples under the loading.Consequently,this system can offer the tomographic retardation map S_3/S_0(x,z) which was verified to be depth-resolved and be dependent on the loading stress.Therefore,the spatial fringe frequency can be locally estimated by the proposed stress analysis based on Newton-Raphson method which high spatial and frequency resolution,determining stress tomographic distribution.

This paper describes the effect of static electricity and humidity on friction characteristics between plastic film and steel roller.We used Polyethylene terephthalate firm,which is used in many industries due to strength from an external force and stability from chemicals.As a result,friction coefficient was increased with a decrease of the film thickness and increase of the humidity.This is because that electric charge on the plastic film was increased with a decrease of the firm thickness.The amount of real contact area was increased due to electrostatic attraction,which works between the film and roller.The friction force is a resultant force of sharing force for tear up the adhesion area,real contact area.As an increase of the humidity,amount of water particles between the film and roller increased and they works as attractive force,which makes an increase of the real contact area.

Web is produced by Roll-to-Roll system.In this system,web is supported by a number of rollers,perform consistently during various manufacturer,finally it is wound into a roll.Wound roll is the occurrence of defects such as slip and wrinkles caused by the winding conditions and environment temperature condition,and such defects make a reduction of the product quality of web.In addition,film thickness distribution occurs on the web in lamination process because a number of webs are generally laminated.These defects are dependent on the state of internal stress in wound roll,therefore it is necessary to prevent defect to certainly by understanding the stress state internal wound roll.In this study,a winding model for prediction of the internal stress,considering web thickness variation and temperature condition is presented and experimentally verified.As a result,measurements of internal stress are well accorded with the theoretical value.

The friction force between sheets decreases by applying an ultrasonic vibration on the top of the stack of sheets.Previous studies have shown that the major factor of friction-force-decrease is the levitation of the vibrated sheet.It is anticipated that the levitation factor is an acoustic radiation force or an aerodynamic force which is caused by the vibration.However,the direct cause of the levitation is not clearly understood.In this study,we have investigated levitation height and waveform with varying sheet shape,the vibrating position and air-permeability of the sheet.As the result of the experiment,non-air permeable sheet was not levitated when the vibrator was placed at the edge of the sheet.If the influence of acoustic radiation force is dominant,non-air permeable sheet will levitate by the inflow of the air from the edge of the sheet.These results suggested that the inflow of the air from the vibrating position,which is compressed by the ultrasonic vibration,caused the levitation.

In order to clarify why the isolation performance of the overlap-type isolation mechanism of the paper sheet is superior to the pressure-type isolation mechanism,we examined the behaviors of the paper sheet in the both mechanisms.First,we introduced the formulation that can calculate the drug force and the feed force acting on the paper sheet in the overlap-type mechanism.And,based on the calculation results of the drug force and friction force between the paper sheets,we examined the behavior of the paper sheet.As a result,we found that a separation mechanism which can separate the paper sheet piled up to one piece exists in the over lap type mechanism,and that the mechanism is a superior factor than the pressure type.

We have developed a numerical method to calculate the particle dynamics in electrophotographic two-component development system using Distinct Element Method(DEM).A characteristic of the method is that takes it account of particle conductivity and electric conduction in chains of carrier particles.Calculated results qualitatively agreed to the experimental results with respect to the amount of developed toner particles and the basic property of the Bead-Carry-Out(BCO)phenomenon under the varied contact condition between magnetic brush and photoconductor and the speed ratio between the development sleeve and photoconductor drum.

Paper curl is one of paper handling problems of printers and copiers.In the fusing process of electorophotography,the curl is generated by the temperature difference of paper surfaces.The temperature difference causes the moisture transport from the high-temperature side to the low-temperature side,and then the moisture content incline of the paper thickness direction causes the shrinkage difference that generates the curl.In the previous study,we proposed an analysis of the moisture transport in paper to predict the curl amount.This report shows the experimental method that measures the moisture distribution in paper by the electric resistance.And the experimental result indicates the validity of the analysis that calculates moisture distribution in paper.

This paper discusses the mechanism of paper-wrinkle generation phenomena in fuser unit.To clarify the evaluation method of paper-wrinkle that occurs because of the instability posture of the paper at the entrance of fuser nip,a model of inclined paper which is feeding into the fusing unit has been built.Substitutional experiments with inclined paper tray were conducted and it has been confirmed that estimating the maximum delay time at the exit on nip-area is possible by using the model.

The flying height of a magnetic head has rapidly decreased and contact between the head slider and the disk surface has become unavoidable.A meniscus bridge of liquid lubricant is formed between the head slider and the magnetic disk.In the present study,mechanical characteristics of a liquid meniscus bridge confined between vibrating solid surfaces are investigated theoretically considering the dynamic characteristics of the contact line and the contact angle.Furthermore,strict shape of liquid meniscus bridge is analysed.

We developed an objective lens actuator using three-polarized magnetic structure for a slim type BD optical pickup.Three magnets are provided opposing to both sides of the moving part of the actuator such that the polarization of the center magnet is reverse to two other outside magnets.Driving forces generated at center portion of a focusing coil opposing to the center magnet cancel deformation of the bending vibration mode of the moving part.Calculated and experimental results show that the higher-order resonance frequency of the actuator is over 20kHz and its amplitude is less than 2dB.

It is necessary to evaluate each displacement of optical components in an optical pickup to improve read/write characteristics at various environmental temperatures.Conventionally,we calculated thermal deformation of the optical pickup by CAE analysis and estimated the displacements of the optical components.In this paper,we visualized thermal deformation of the optical pickup using a Digital Image Correlation method.As a result,it was revealed that the displacements of the optical components occurred by anisotropic deformation of the resin housing and thermal expansion of the adhesive to tie between optical component and housing.

We proposed a new structure of a grating holder in an optical pickup to reduce angular displacement of the grating with expansion or shrinkage of adhesives fixing the holder.The holder has a square shape and a slit at each of four corners.The central portion of the holder deforms in the direction opposite to the rotational direction of the outer portion,so that this structure can reduce angular displacement of the grating.Our calculated result shows that the angular displacement of the grating is less than 0.1 ° with slits in 40-70% depth of the holder height.

We developed a spherical aberration correction mechanism for a multi-layer Blu-ray Disc(BD) optical pickup.Lager movable range of a collimate lens is needed to correct the spherical aberration caused by different disc-thickness as the number of recording layer increases.First characteristic structure is that movable range of the collimate lens is located below an objective lens actuator.This structure makes it possible to maintain the size of a multi-layer BD optical pickup same as that of a conventional DVD optical pickup.Secondary characteristic structure is that a main-guide shaft,a sub-guide shaft and a lead screw are arranged at different heights.This arrangement makes a moment of force to a holder of the collimate lens,therefore,reduces a displacement of the holder to less than 1μm.

In recent days,usually used sheet materials,for example plain paper copier,thin paper,cardboard and circuits tend to be thin and large area.Stack of the sheet should be count before production process because lots amount is usually used.Contact type and non-contact type is used for counting sheet.Corner broken,scratch and dirt adhesion take place when contact type is used.To prevent these problems,non-contact type is suitable.Compressed air separates one by one from sheet stack and positioning sensor count each separated sheet.Double feed,imperceptible corner deforming and flutter take place due to low rigidity when non-contact type is used.To improve non-contact type,ejection area of compressed air should be focused.We fabricate new nozzle that diameter is small utilizing micro-EDM(electrical discharge machining).Counting film sheet is improved with new machine.

This paper addresses a new cooperative algorithm of multiple robots which adapts them to environmental changes.In practical applications with multiple robots,the environmental elements,which are target object condition,number of working robots,and so on,can change easily through their interactions.A new cooperative algorithm adapting environmental changes is therefore proposed.The proposed technique is inspired by social cooperative characteristics of human-beings,especially imitation based on subjective evaluation.This research is experimented by transporting simulation to verity of the technique.Finally effectiveness of the theory was investigated in transporting simulation.Multiple robots would be adapted to environmental changes by the technique.

This paper describes effects of viscous force on adhesive characteristics of sole pads for insect-inspired wall-climbing robots.Ants can walk on the smooth vertical surfaces using an adhesive organ and secreted viscous liquid.We fabricated two kinds of adhesive pads inspired by the adhesive organ of ants.Pure water and silicone oil with various kinetic viscosities were provided to the pads,and normal and tangential adhesive forces between the pad and a glass surface were measured.The experimental results show that the pad provided with highly viscous silicone oil generates higher adhesive force than the pad utilizing surface tensionforce of water.

This paper describes the effect of flapping phase difference on flight performance and fluid forces.We developed a flapping-wing robot with flapping phase differences.Phase relationship between forewings and hind wings was changed from 0 to 180 degrees with 90 intervals and angle of attack and flight speed during free flight were measured.When the phase differences were 0 and 90 degrees,the robot can fly with angle of attack ranging from 30 to 40 degrees.However,when the phase difference was 180degree,angle of attack increased and the robot descended.Measurement of lift and drag using wind tunnel shows that the lift force with phase differences of 0 degrees exceeds the body weight when angle of attack is about 35 degrees.Moreover,the robot was measured flow visualization around the flapping wings using smoke wire method.These results were in good agreement with the free flight experiments.
