Child suicides have been on the rise since 2016. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, child suicides became more serious. More than 450 children commit suicide each year. Education on how to send SOS messages, which is one of the primary prevention measures became a mandatory effort for every school in 2016. However, the government did not provide any specific means, such as what and how, and the process was left entirely up to the schools.This has led to the current situation, in which very few schools are providing education even after 6 years have passed.The author practices suicide prevention education in elementary, junior high, and high schools in Japan. Many children say they cannot talk to their parents or teachers about their problems. Because they are scolded by parents or teachers and very afraid of losing their rating.The main causes of children's suicide are poor academic performance, problems with career paths, and reprimands from family members. It is necessary to conduct training to listen to children. It is an urgent task to create a safe and secure environment for children.
