The purpose of the present studies is to examine the relationship between unfair experiences in daily life and emotional reactions toward them.
These studies were also designed to replicate and extend Mikula (1986) and Clayton (1992). In the preliminary study, 45 Japanese subjects were asked to describe typical unfair events in their daily life. The data from this study was compared with that of Clayton's American subjects and those of Mikula's Austrian ones. In the main study, the subjects were presented with 35 unfair events selected from those of the preliminary study, and the subjects were asked to comment on them. The results of the correspondence analysis and the cluster analysis indicated that the subjects related various emotional reactions to the unfair events. In addition, implications of further research on justice and emotions were discussed.

We developed a Japanese version of the State-Trait Anger eXpression Inventory (STAXI; Spielberger, 1988) which measures the predictive factor of hypertension and coronary heart disease. This report indicates the statistical characteristics of the Japanese version of STAXI and its subscales. We also report the relationships between STAXI and other personality measures, such as Jenkins' Activity Survey for Type A Behavior Pattern and Ways of Coping Questionnaire for the style of coping with stress. Furthermore, we attempted a clinical application of the Japanese version of STAXI of a case with a complaint about anger and aggression. The result showed the STAXI is useful to apply in clinical treatments.
