    Using ultrasound pulsed Doppler method, hemodynamic change of portal circulation was measured in 38patients with liver cirrhosis, Also measured was Type IV collagen 7S domain (7S) as serum hepatic fibrosis marker, in order to review the relationship between liver fibrosis and hemodynamic change of portal circulation. The results were as follows;
    1) In cirrhotic patients, the cross section of main portal trunk was increased, and the mean flow velosity was decreased compared with the normal control (NC) .
    2) Splenic venous flow volume was significantly increased in cirrhostic patients than in NC.
    3) Positive correlation was recognized between 7S and cross sections of main portal trunk and splenic vein, splenic venous flow volume, congestion index, and splenic venous flow volume/main portal trunk flow volume ratio.
    4) It was thought that measuring the portal blood flow using ultrasound pulsed Doppler sonography would make it possible to estimate the grade of hepatic fibrosis.
