The objective of this paper is to clarify the time series characteristics of the maximum depth of snow, cover (Smax) in Akita City located in the northwest of Honshu island, from view-points of various statistics calculated from long-term data of Smax. To understand the regionality of snow cover depth, various meteorological data are also used. From the results of correlation analysis of these data, accumulation of daily snow depth (√St) and snow covered days more than 10cm of snow depth (D10) are most correlated to Smax. Snow disasters in this city, will appear when the √St and the D10 exceed 55 and 70, respectively. In this time, all Smax data more than 80cm exist within the above mentioned region. This value tends to appear within the standartd deviation (σ) of strong windy days beyond 10m/sec. According to the Gumbel distribution, this value appears probably every 10 years.
