We performed the indoor experiments of single-effect small distiller using wind-thermal conversion of which structure is equivalent to the first distilling cell of the vertical and concentric cylindrical multiple-effect diffusion-type still, and measured the variations of shaft power, revolution per minute, temperatures of the first and second cylindrical partition and productivity with wind speed.Shaft power and each partition temperatures in the distiller and the distillate production rate were in good agreement between the experiments and theoretical predictions, and this indicates that the wind energy can be converted to frictional thermal energy well in liquid heat medium between the rotational shaft and the first cylindrical partition.‘The results show that it is important for multiple-effect diffusion-type distiler to improve insulation at the edge side of distiller to produce water which meets the one person’s daily requirements.
