There is a pond in Miyazaki Jingu Shrine in the center of Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture. This pond used to have water flowing from a nearby river, but since the water was cut off several decades ago, it is now drawn from a well. The biota of this pond has never been investigated before. In October of the 5th year of Reiwa, construction work was carried out to clean the bottom of the pond, and I took this opportunity to investigate the biota. I also investigated what kind of invasive species are inhabited. As a result, several types of invasive species were found. In addition, I requested DNA analysis of the terrapin (Pelodiscus japonicus) because it was indistinguishable from the invasive species（Pelodiscus sinensis）. As a result, the nuclear DNA was from Pelodiscus japonicus, but the haplotype of mitochondrial DNA was clearly from Pelodiscus sinensis.

This report describes the growth status and environment of Monochoria korsakowii, which was thought to be extinct in Miyazaki Prefecture. Although the confirmed site had water throughout the year, the number of Phragmites australis increased due to management abandonment, making future conservation difficult.

Kota Pond is a reservoir located in Kota, Sadohara-cho, Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture. The traditional hunting method of duck net hunting in winter, using a cast net called a koeami and taking advantage of the duck's ecology, is still practiced today and is designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Asset of the prefecture. The pond is surrounded by rice paddies and forests, and is therefore a place where much nature remains. Many plants, including rare species, grow wild in the surrounding area. This time, we were able to confirm 28 specimens currently in the museum's collection and 65 species through on-site surveys.

The Okita shell midden of the Jomon period is located along the Okita River in Nobeoka City, Miyazaki Prefecture.In this study, along with shellfish and animal bones excavated from the Okita shell midden, radiocarbon dating was conducted on shellfish collected from the adjacent Yokotani site. Based on these data and previous studies, the period during which the Okita River and the Nobeoka City area continued to be an inner bay environment was discussed.

Sekitei Kinouchi/Kiuchi (木内石亭) was a naturalist and geological specimen enthusiast in the middle of the Edo period (middle to late 18th century). Sekitei collected and classified minerals, rocks, fossils, and archeological artifacts, called ‘Kiseki’ (奇石), and wrote a record of them. This study introduces geological specimens found in Miyazaki Prefecture (then called Hyūga Province in the Edo period) and their localities. Sekitei’s works recorded 18 types of ‘Kiseki’ (e.g. minerals such as quartz, sulfur, gold, silver, and copper; concretions; fossils of mollusks, decapods, and fishes). Many of these specimens and their localities are known today and were recognized at least as early as the middle 18th century.

江戸時代，福山藩の御用酒であった鞆の保命酒に用いられた容器のひとつに備前焼の角徳利がある．鞆の特産品であった保命酒は，北前船などの多くの商船によって全国各地に流通していたことが知られている．本稿では，宮崎県内で確認できる伝世品および出土品の備前焼の角徳利について概観し，19世紀第2四半期から第3四半期に製作されたものであること，瀬戸内地域と取引のある拠点的な商業港を通じて県内に持ち込まれたことを示した． また，限定的ではあるが，宮崎県内における元来の所有者が，贈答用として珍重された保命酒を求めた商人の町や拠点的な商業港の住人，あるいは飫肥藩上級家臣といった富裕層が中心であったと考えられ，北前船だけに限らない海運を介した保命酒の流通があったことがわかった．

宮崎県総合博物館では，2024年10月12日から11月24日まで特別展「化石タイムカプセル」を開催した．この展示会は，宮崎県総合博物館と名古屋大学博物館の共同主催で実施されたものである．展示会の内容は，コンクリーションから産出する保存状態の良い化石を多数展示し，その形成メカニズムとともに，鉄コンクリーションなどの研究も展示した．また，コンクリーション形成プロセスを工業に応用したコンクリーション化剤をについても紹介した．

宮崎県では地理的環境を生かして，多彩な原料を使った焼酎が造られている．令和６年には，本格焼酎の出荷量は１０年連続で全国１位となるなど，焼酎は宮崎を代表する特産品といえる．その背景には、これまで多くの蔵元や杜氏，蔵子と呼ばれる造り手たちが，宮崎の焼酎造りを支え発展させてきた．一方で，宮崎の焼酎造りの文化や歴史，造り手の日常の様子を記した資料は少ない．そこで本稿では，県内で昭和時代から焼酎造りに携わってきた造り手２名に聞き取り調査を実施し，その内容を記録した．
