In recent years, non-FIT frameworks have been required to keep penetrations of photovoltaic (PV) systems aggressively in Japan. One of such frameworks is an energy autarky system for local area. This paper proposes a new local energy autarky system which has PV systems installed public schools as energy supply, and tramway power lines as energy demand. The tabu-searchbased optimization method was employed to find the optimal capacities and arrangements of direct current collection converters for distributed PVs. The results indicate that total costs of proposed system were lower than the conventional systems.
