    Multi-blade fan has been widely used in various industries. In recent requirement on the view point of environmental problems, the improvement of efficiency of the fan is demanded for power saving by new design concept such as novel blade shape, new design of casing and so on. In this report, a new type of impeller blade of multi-blade fan being used in air conditioner of vehicles was proposed, and its fundamental characteristics have been investigated by comparison with other two types of blades. The blade has a wing shape and is separated into two parts at the middle point of code length. Fan performance and noise characteristic of the impeller with this blade have been investigated experimentally, and on the basis of these results, the possibility of noise reduction and power saving was discussed with taking into account of visualization of flow through the impeller.
