To evaluate the stability of electroconductive rotor operating in magnetic field, Lorentz force effect was studied by model test and calculation code originally developed. Lorentz force has a dynamic characteristics similar to cylindrical oil film bearings, so this force acts as destabilizing with an increase in rotor speed and deteriorates rotor system stability. In addition, this Lorentz force has complicated characteristics dependent on rotor whirl and spin frequency and this is confirmed by commercial FEA code.
