    I Revaluation of Endoscopic differentiation between benign and malignant gastric ulcers. We have classified ulcerative lesions of the stomach by fiberscopic diagnosis into following five categories : E-I : Benign Ulcer E-II : Benign ulcer but the possibiity of cancer cannot be completely ruled out E-III : Difficult to determine whether it is a benign or malignant ulcer E-IV : Strong suspicion of cancer E-V : Cancer For the determination of E-II to E-V, accurate diagnosis only by usual observation sometimes is difficult because ulcer and cancer may be present at the same time. Accordingly, by means of close up observation of the redness and other characteristics of mucosa of gastric ulcer margin surrounding mucosal folds through f iberscope, we investigated the possibility of definite diagnosis of gastric ulcer. For detailed observation, specimen taken during the operation was immediately observed and photographied by magnifying to two to four folds. After the specimen was fixed by 10% formalin, it was stained by alcian blue and haematoxylin and again observed and photographied by the same procedure. I noticed that there were coexistance of benign gastric ulcer and cancer in the cases of E-II, E-III and E-IV . Some are very difficult to differentiate. Study by close up done observation was then done for the purpose of differ-entiation. Ulcerative cancer which show "over-hanging" and ulcerative cancer which have been covered by regenerated epithium are considered to be the most difficult ones to diagnosis by surface observation. Close up observation by endoscopy is useful, in the diagnosis of gastric ulcer, however, it must be based on histological confirmation. In conclusion, differentiation of the ulcerative lesion of the stomach, can be accurately made by endoscopic & microscopic close up examination. II Endoscopic study of Regenerative Epithelium around gastric ulcer During 13 monthed, from October, 1971 to October, 1972, 81 patients under treatment at het Institute of Gastroent-erology, Tokyo Women's Medical College, had been studied through the close-up observation of gastric ulcer margin by using forward-viewing f iberscope, GIF-D, PFS-F and PFS-F2. I classified the patterns of regenerative epithelium of ulcer margin into four types: Thistle type, Golden Banded Lily type, Wild Comomile type and Mixture type. Studies of the differences in the patterns of redness of four types were done by direct shooting biopsies and analyzed. The adquate number of specimens had been taken, and the regenerative epithelium of 53 lesions were studied according to Fukumoto's classification. I found out that almost each type of lesion changed to mixed type as it healed. III Comparation study of Endoscopic and dissection microscopic observation of regenerative Epithelium around gastric ulcer A comparative investigation of magnified view of the close-up observation and stereo-microscopic pictures of eighteen operated cases was done. As a rule, close-up observation was done, within twenty four hours prior to operation. Within 30 minutes after gastrectomy, these fresh specimens were washed in normal saline solution and they were examined by stereo-microscope at two time, four time and eight time magnification. The stereo-microscopic findings of each type are, Thistle type: The continuous regenerative mucosa is the place where muscularis mucosae and tunica muscularis are conglutinated. Golden Banded Lily type: Scattered red spots and dots are identical to redness of area gastrica. Mixture type: This type is mostly covered by regenera-tive mucosa and redness of margin is same as redness of area gastrica of remaining uncompleated regenerative epithelium. Histological findings of each type are; Thistle type: Hemorrahage can not been seen. Inflammatory reaction, by peramia, comgestion, vessel expansion and intestinal metaplasia is observed.     レベルにせまるきわめて良好な画像を得た. この結果をもとにし電子スコープを用いて雑種成犬の胃および大腸の粘膜形態の観察をとくに,10%ホルマリン固定後のヘマトキシレン染色した胃,アルーシャンブルー染色した大腸で,水浸下に行い,さらに人での応用を試み,今後の電子スコープ開発に関する一考察を得た.

    Analysis of clay minerals by means of an analytical electron microscope have been reviewed from a standpoint of manufacturer. At present, two types of energy dispersive spectrometer are available for an electron microscope. The elements from Na to U can be detected by the Be window type detector and those from C to U, by the ultra thin window (UTW) type detector. Moreover, quantitative chemical analysis of thin section specimen can be made with a considerable accuracy by the Cliff-Lorimer method. Experimental factors such as, acceleration of voltage, dead time of detector, incident electron beam current, damage of specimen by an incident electron beam and contamination of specimen, should be given greater attention to get a more reliable result.

    トリコモナス膣炎および腟カンディダ症は, 非常に広くひろがつた, 治りにくい煩わしい病気である。従来, 多くの薬剤が治療薬として用いられているが, たとえ一過性の効力を現わすものがあつても, 完全に根治させるものはなかつた。
    細谷教授およびその共同研究者1)~9) によつて1952年に発見された抗原虫・抗真菌性抗生物質トリコマイシン (Trmと略) は, 試験管内においても生体内においても, また臨床的にもトリコモナス腟炎および腟カンディダ症にも強い抗生作用をもつことが報ぜられた。続いて, 真柄ら10)~11), 安藤ら2), 水野ら13)~14), 山元ら16), 木下ら17) および篠塚ら18) によつてTrm腟錠はトリコモナス腟炎および腟カンディダ症に治療効果のあることが相ついで発表された。しかし近来, Trm腟錠投薬中止後に, トリコモナスおよびカンディダの腟内再現に関する検査が精密におこなわれるようになり, Trm腟錠の投与の開始後, 比較的短かい日数の後に腟から消滅することは事実であるが, それらの一部は尿道または膀胱内に逃避し, 投薬中止後, 腟内にTrmが全くなくなると, 再び尿道膀胱から下降して腟粘膜に到達し, 再び増殖し再発が起る。すなわち自家再感染があることが明らかにされ, 真柄らは, Trm腟錠およびTrm内服錠の併用療法によつて自家再感染に非常に好結果を得たことを報告した。
    著者等も, 一定期間Trm腟錠およびTrm内服錠の併用療法を施行し, 遠隔成績としてトリコモナスおよびカンディダ消失後から数カ月後におよんで培養・鏡検し, 主として再発の有無について検査した結果, 非常に好成績を得られたので報告する。

    So far many kinds of light microscopic and electron microscopic studies of ciliated epithelium of various animals have been made, but researches on the human tracheal epithelium in the electron microscope are very few, and only one brief report of RHODIN (1959) is known to us. In the present study the materials were obtained from men of 45 and 54 years and women of 42 and 59 years on the opportunity of the operation of tracheotomy and laryngectomy. The materials were fixed in osmium tetroxide adjusted to pH 7.4 with veronal acetate buffer and embedded in styrene and n-butyl methacrylate or in epon. Thin sections were stained with uranyl acetate, and examined in the electron microscope at magnification of 1, 000-10, 000.
    1. The structure of the ciliated cells of the human trachea is generally such as ever been written in other organs. Through careful observation, however, it has been confirmed that the limiting membrane of the cilia occasionally consists of two layers. In the cilia interior are seen 9 pairs of peripheral axial filaments and one pair of central axial filaments, the latter being enclosed by one-layer membrane. The basal corpuscle of the cilium is made up of fused peripheral axial filaments and its interior, the latter possessing a small round or egg-shaped shell. The root of the cilium from the ringshaped side wall of basal corpuscle shows a periodic structure with a period of 60mμ. In each period, i. e. between the two dense bands a thinner dense interband is found.
    2. Generally microvilli develop well. They branch sometimes. Their tips often swell. Sometimes pinocytotic vesicles are seen in the microvilli. GOLGI apparatus is located on the upper side of the nucleus, and is composed of GOLGI membranes, vesicles and on some occasions vacuoles. Mitochondoria, which are round or bacilliform, sometimes branched, with cristae mitochodriales are disposed to gather under the cilia, but never touch their basal part. So-called‘hypobasale hyaline Zone’reported by HIOKI under the light microscope could not be confirmed in the present study. Occasions sometimes arise when the mitochondria are swollen and the cristae mitochondriales are dispersed, and small high electron dense granula occupy their interior. It is considered that it depends on the functional stages of the cell. Moreover many small vesicles are observed scatteringly in the cytoplasm and many multivesicular bodies are recognized above the nucleus.
    3. Coarse granules of high electron density present in the cytoplasm and are classified into 2 kinds. 1. round or oval-formed comparatively clear granules with a limiting membrane and of high electron dense homogeneous ground substance. In the interior of this granule, high electron dense small granules of various size which are adjacent to the inside of the limiting membrane, are frequently observed. Probably electron density of the granule grows higher with the increase of the small granules in number. 2. round granules of concentric lamellar structure. They are seen numerous near the GOLGI apparatus. It is to be considered that some of the GOLGI vesicles gradually increase their electron density and at the same time show concentric lamellar structure in the interior, during which high electron dense substance deposits itself in the lamellar structure, and finally these granules change into a high electron dense granules without structure. But the reverse case may be taken into consideration with regard to the process of formation of the above mentioned granules. Furthermore, near the granules, rough surfaced endoplasmic reticula and RNA granules are seen. To what extent these bodies have to do with the process of granule formation is unknown.
    4. There were findings which are in favour of HIOKI's ones under the light microscope concerning the transformation of the ciliated cell of the trachea to the goblet cell in man.

    The present paper deals with the study of trichomonas elongata under fluorescent microscopic observation, dyed with acridin-orange.
    Acridin-orange did not gave strong fluorescence of flagella, however, it showed many new foundings which could not be shown by auramin. Acridin-orange gave rose fluorescence in various granula and flesh green fluorescence in neuclea. Consequently, by the varied contrast color of granula and nuclear, living organism could be differentiated from dead one. Wet preparation which had been treated with 1: 3, 000-7, 400 dilution of acridin-orange is useful for investigating the vitality of trichomonas elongata.
    In the further investigation as to influence of acridin-orange to the growth and proliferation of the protozoa, it was found that trichomonas elongata can grow well in the concentration of 15, 000 fold or more high dilution of acridin-orange, and that the protozoa that had been once treated with the pigment will exert fluorescence in fresh medium of transplantation, even in the 3rd medium.
