    A new method which can give continuous guidance for controlling axial xenon oscillations in large PWRs has been presented. The method is based on two additional newly defined axial offsets,

    and AOx together with the conventional axial offset of power distribution AOp.

    and AOx are the axial offsets of power distributions which would give the current iodine and xenon distributions under equilibrium conditions, respectively. The information from

    Football skills and viewing behavior of football games affect features of eye movement. This fact is analyzed by eye movements on watching a football game video using pre-defined area of interest (
    AOI
    ). In order to extract dynamic viewing behavior, we define dynamic AOIs on main objects of scenes in a football game video and analyze
    AOI
    sequences generated from transition of AOIs of participants. The similarities between the
    AOI
    sequences were extracted and compared. Cluster analysis showed that the patterns of
    AOI
    sequences can enable to classify viewers into those who have football skills and those who do not.

    In this letter, we investigate nonlinear properties of the underlying dynamics for the Arctic Oscillation Index (
    AOI
    ). First, we develop a test statistic for surrogate data analysis so that we can deal with the high-dimensionality of
    AOI
    . Second, we validate the test statistic with toy models. Then, by applying the proposed new test statistic with surrogate data to the dataset of
    AOI
    for the last 60 years, we show that
    AOI
    is nonlinear with determinism beyond pseudo-periodicity. These results mean that the underlying dynamics of
    AOI
    is consistent with deterministic chaos, implying that it is predictable in a short-term but not in a long-term.

    Paints are used in a wide range of industrial fields, but recently technological development has been activelycarried out by each company in order to reduce environmental impact and health risks in the use process.Examples include high solids by reducing the amount of solvent used, water systemization, use of LED lightsources, energy saving by low temperature curing, and so on.Meanwhile, Showa Denko developed isocyanate monomer“ KarenzTM” by our own technology, and its useis various such as electronic materials. However, since the isocyanate monomer of Karenz ® tends to beexpensive, it is difficult to apply to general use. Under these circumstances, Showa Denko developed andlaunched“

    -VMTM” in 2015.

    In 2018, mizu-

    aoi
    (Monochoria korsakowii), designated a critically endangered species by the Red Databook of Kyoto Prefecture 2015, was discovered at Shosei-en Garden, which neighbors and belongs to Higashi Honganji (Shinshu Otani-ha). This was the first sighting of this flower blooming since 2005, a period of 13 years. The reason for its reappearance may be inferred to be sleeping buried seeds that were reawakened after dredging Ingetsu-chi Pond for conservation repairs. In addition to displaying exhibits at Shosei-en Garden's entrance, Ueyakato Landscape has conducted ex-situ conservation in cooperation with other organizations to maintain the plant's population and genetic diversity. In the future, we hope to grow mizu-
    aoi
    in its native habitat once again.

    リアルタイム性を重視するモニタリングシステムでは,常に最新の情報をモニタに表示することが肝要であるため,古くなった情報は極めて低い価値しか持たない.すなわち,取得からの時間経過に伴って情報の価値は減衰してゆき,適切な頻度で情報更新がなされない限り,モニタが表示する情報はほとんど無価値になってしまう.従来,このようなシステムに対する代表的な性能評価指標として遅延時間が用いられてきたが,これは情報の鮮度を保つという観点ではあくまで間接的な指標にすぎない.Age of Information (

    )は,情報の鮮度を直接的に定量化する新しい指標であり,過去数年の間に

    に関する研究は大きな広がりを見せている.本稿では,

    の基本概念を解説し,更にその理論的解析法,並びに理論的結果から導かれる

    The modification of the baroclinic instability associated with positive and negative Arctic Oscillation Index (
    AOI
    ) is theoretically investigated using a linearized 3D spectral primitive equation model. The linear instability analysis shows that the most unstable Charney mode MC changes its structure to intensify (weaken) the polar jet by the eddy momentum flux associated with the positive (negative)
    AOI
    . More importantly, the meridionally dipole Charney mode M2 is modified into the monopole Charney mode M1 to transport eddy momentum flux northward under the positive
    AOI
    condition. It is found that this modification is essential to intensify the polar jet during the
    AOI
    positive phase. Hence, we have theoretically confirmed that there are positive feedbacks between the baroclinic instability waves and the Arctic Oscillation characterized by the intensity of the polar jet.

    Polar amino groups of the waste silk sericin (SS) were modified by isocyanate compounds : 2- (methacryloyloxy)ethyl isocyanate (MOI) or 2-(acryloyloxy)ethyl isocyanate (
    AOI
    ). By hot-pressing the MOImodified silk sericin (MOISS) or the
    AOI
    -modified silk serisin (AOISS), vinyl groups in the MOI or
    AOI
    were polymerized and the flexible and transparent films were obtained. Tensile moduli and strengths of the MOISS films were significantly enhanced as the MOI content increased. By the addition of the isocyanate compound, sericin films exhibited the lower solubility to the distilled water (80℃) and also the lower swell ratio to the distilled water (room temperature). For the enhancement of tensile properties and to restrain the water swelling, MOI was more effective than
    AOI
    . Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) / theoretical oxygen demand (TOD) of the pure sericin film was almost 100% after 10days immersion into the activated sludge. By adding the isocyanate compound, BOD/TOD was decreased and delayed. When more than 50mol% of polar amino groups remained unreacted, sericin films retained the biodegradability. From the viewpoint of biodegradability,
    AOI
    was more effective than MOI.

    筆者が行っている TVCM の解析プロジェクト「 Creative Genome Project 」では、日本の TVCM における代表作品群を解析し、視聴者の読後感を基に TVCM における「体験」を 16 に分類している . ( この「体験」を本解析モデルにおいては CCT( コミュニケーション・コンセプト・タグ ) と呼称している . ) これら CCT を簡易に再現可能にするため , 今回は 11 種類の CCT に対して以下の研究を行った . ① まず 11 の CCT それぞれを特徴付けるため , 各 CCT に属する代表的な CM コンテンツの持つ深層構造(物語の骨格・フレーム)を解析し , 11 の各体験パターンそれぞれに対して , この構造を反映した典型文章を作成した . ② これらの典型文章に対し ,16 業種の商品やサービスを代入し , 意味的な練度を保つ文章を作成した . その上でこれら文章においても ,CCT や読後感がずれていないかを検証した . 結論として ,11 の CCT について概ね再現が良好であった . 以上について , 主に方法論と結果 , 今後の課題について報告する .

    In a heterogeneous unreliable multiaccess network, wherein terminals share a common wireless channel with distinct error probabilities, existing works have shown that a persistent round-robin (RR-P) scheduling policy can be arbitrarily worse than the optimum in terms of Age of Information (

    AoI
    ) under standard Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ). In this paper, practical Hybrid ARQ (HARQ) schemes which are widely-used in today's wireless networks are considered. We show that RR-P is very close to optimum with asymptotically many terminals in this case, by explicitly deriving tight, closed-form
    AoI
    gaps between optimum and achievable
    AoI
    by RR-P. In particular, it is rigorously proved that for RR-P, under HARQ models concerning fading channels (resp. finite-blocklength regime), the relative
    AoI
    gap compared with the optimum is within a constant of 6.4% (resp. 6.2% with error exponential decay rate of 0.5). In addition, RR-P enjoys the distinctive advantage of implementation simplicity with channel-unaware and easy-to-decentralize operations, making it favorable in practice. A further investigation considering constraint imposed on the number of retransmissions is presented. The performance gap is indicated through numerical simulations.

    症例は82歳男性で,慢性腎不全(透析中),高血圧,慢性閉塞性肺疾患,認知症の持病がある。突然の腹痛で当院緊急搬送となったが来院時の腹部所見は板状硬で反跳痛を認めた。腹部CT検査で胃小弯の腹腔内遊離ガスおよび腹水,上部消化管内視鏡検査で胃穹窿部の広範な壊死を認めた。特発性胃壊死・穿孔による汎発性腹膜炎の診断で緊急開腹手術を施行した。胃穹窿部から体部に広範な壊死所見を認めたが,全身状態が極めて不良なため,ドレナージ,経腸栄養目的の腸瘻造設を行った。術後9病日に下血を発症し,下部消化管内視鏡検査で上行結腸に露出血管を伴う広範な潰瘍を認め壊死を疑う所見であった。その後全身状態が悪化し術後34病日に敗血症で死亡した。特発性胃壊死は極めてまれで予後不良であり,結腸壊死を併発した報告は自験例がはじめてである。

    For making Japanese Style Paper, vegetable mucilage such as "Tororo-
    aoi
    ", " Nori-asa" or "Ninori"is usuallyadded to obtain uniformpaper sheet. Mechanism of the uniformsheet formation property of mucilage is discussed principally on the standpoint of drainage of water.
    Drainage time has been measured by using upper part of schopper's freeness tester. Three kinds of vegetable mucilage extracted from "Tororo-
    aoi
    " (Abelmoschus manihot medic), "Nori-asa" (artificial couple of "Tororo-
    aoi
    " and "Okura " Abelmoschus esculentus Moench made by prof.Kagawa) and "Ninori" (Hydragea paniculata sieb) have been studied.
    Effects of the amounts and the kinds of vegetable mucilage, pulp consistency and temperature of water.
    Drainage time increases according to the increase of the addition of vegetable mucilage or pulp consistency, and decreases by rising the temperature of water.
    That is to say the drainage degree is the function of (1) the added amount of vegetable mucilage (2) pulp consistency (3) resistance of fiber layer (4) resistance of filtering material (5) beating degree of pulp, and the reverse function of (6) the temperature of water (7) filtering area (8) head difference in vat and (9) x (etc.) :
    Drainage =Kφ {(the added amount of vegetable mucilage) (pulp consistency) (resistance of fiber layer) (resistance of filtering material) (beating degree of pulp) (the temp. of water) (filtering area) (head difference in vat) (x)}.
    By using white water repeatedly, effect of vegetable mucilage and also drainage time decrease gradually. In the case of using white water repeatedely, the recovery percentage of available component of vegetable mucilage measured by the drainage time, is about by 20% "Tororo-
    aoi
    ", by 40% "Nori-asa", and by 60% "Ninori ". The order of depression of viscocity of vegetable mucilage is as follows, "Tororo-
    aoi
    ", " Nori-asa " and " Ninori ". Therefore in mill practice the percentage of recovery of available component of " Ninori " has become greater than the above mentioned data. This is the reason why the " Ninori " notwithstanding the mucilagious extract is smaller than "Tororo-
    aoi
    ", is comparatively favourable in mill practice.

    In this paper, 1) it is shown that amplitude-only images (AOIs) have quite wide intensity ranges (IRs), and 2) an IR reduction method for AOIs is proposed. An
    AOI
    is the inversely transformed amplitude spectra of an image, and it is used in the privacy- and copyright-protected image trading system because of its invisibility. Since an
    AOI
    is the coherent summation of cosine waves with the same phase, the IR of the
    AOI
    is too large to be stored and/or transmitted. In the proposed method, random signs are applied to discrete Fourier transformed amplitude coefficients to obtained AOIs with significantly lower IRs without distortion while keeping the invisibility of images. With reasonable processing time, high correct watermark extracting rates, inversely quantized AOIs with low mean squared errors, and reconstructed images with high peak signal-to-noise ratios are obtained by a linear quantizer in the proposed method.

    In spoken sentence comprehension, prosody is regarded as an important information source for syntax. However, prosody can also be affected by various non-syntactic factors. The present study demonstrates that lexical accent, which itself is not relevant to syntax, is relevant to, and can have a considerable impact on the resolution of syntactic ambiguity in human sentence comprehension.
    In a (LB) left-vs. (RB) right-branching ambiguity in Japanese as in the example below, the presence or absence of lexical accent (indicated by “’”) on the initial adjective, (e.g.,
    ao’i
    (blue): accented vs. kiiroi (yellow): unaccented) is known to influence phrasal level prosody. This in turn affected listeners' analyses on branching structure, as will be shown in the production study.

    In the production task, naive speakers (n=7) gave verbal instructions to their partners to identify the target object, using a fixed phrase as indicated in the example above, where either RB or LB was intended. The F0 contour on the collected utterances showed little distinctive difference among conditions except for the LB-intended utterances with an accented adjective.
    The collected utterances were then fed to a perception test (forced choice task identifying the intended meaning) with a separate group of subjects (N=48). Listeners' performance in correctly identifying LB-intended utterances was significantly better for items with an accented adjective (
    ao’i
    ) than with an unaccented adjective (kiiroi), whereas performance on RB-intended utterances were relatively poor regardless of the presence of an accent on the initial adjective. The results of the perception study can be explained by what was found in the production study: the successive downstep (which is conditioned to occur following an accented item) as a major cue indicating a left-branching structure was not available for items with an unaccented adjective. It is also suggested that when the relevant F0 cue is not available or useful, hearers rely more on durational cues.

    A new method for controlling axial spatial xenon oscillations in large PWRs has been proved to be effective. The method is based on two additional newly defined axial offsets,
    AOi
    and AOx together with the conventional axial offset of power distribution AOp.
    AOi
    and AOx are the axial offsets of power distributions which would give the current iodine and xenon distributions under equilibrium conditions, respectively. Further efforts have been continued to establish a new control concept which can give continuous and clear guidance on a display to the operator for xenon oscillation control. The new concept uses information from
    AOi
    , AOx and AOp to display the trajectory of (AOp-AOx,
    AOi
    -AOx) in the X-Y plane. The trajectory shows a very characteristic behavior. With these simple characteristics in mind the xenon oscillation can be controlled quite easily. In other words, to eliminate the xenon oscillation, we watch the trajectory and use the control rods to lead the plot to the origin where three AOs are identical.
    Verification of the concept was carried out based on the full record of the axial offset during a xenon oscillation in an actual reactor and good results were obtained.

    In connection with paper-making by means of Japanese traditional hand-processes, the behaviours of solutions of Tororo-
    aoi
    mucilage, sodium alginate and sodium polyphosphate were studied.
    Viscosity and filterability of the solution and sedimentation velosity of pulp fibers in the solution were not found to relate so much to the dispersing and sizing properties of the solution on the paper making.
    Sodium polymetaphosphate behaves comparatively similar to the Tororo-
    aoi
    mucilage.
    Sodium alginate can be used only in an appreciably viscous solution in place of Tororo-
    aoi
    mucilage, and decreasing of viscosity in the sodium alginate solution is accelerated by adding hydrogen peroxide ;but the paper making properties of the solution in such a condition were found to differ much from those of the Tororo-
    aoi
    mucilage.
    Dispersibility of sodium alginate solution was not found to be improved by using some surface active agents of non-ionic type.
    The paper making properties of the mucilagenous solution were found to be concerned with adsorption of the mucilage on pulp fibers.
    It was concluded that the mucilage is adsorped to pulp fibers in water and, cooperating with hemicellulose of the fibers, causes the fibers to be well dispersed to accomplish a good distribution of fibers in the fiber mat and prepare the superior paper.
