    We conceptualize knowledge as an intellectual infrastructure that helps to maximize efficiency from the viewpoint of ecosystems. The knowledge ecosystem includes people and organizations that participate in the production, distribution, and consumption of this knowledge and information, as well as interactions between participants. We built the agent-based computational model of the ecosystem and induced seven key revitalization conditions from the perspective of complexity science and ecosystem management. We analyzed the effects of these conditions on the knowledge ecosystem based by the simulation of the agent-based model. Our results suggest that the proper implementation of seven revitalization conditions, focusing on the recovery of the positive feedback loop in the knowledge ecosystem, is crucial for sustainable development.

    インターネットは、CRMにおける重要なリテンション・メディアであると同時に、新規顧客を呼び込むためのレスポンス・メディアでもある。そのいずれの働きにおいても中心的な役割を果たすのが、コンテンツである。しかしながら、コンテンツを制作する側が考える重要な顧客、すなわちファン、もしくはコンテンツのロイヤルカスタマーと、企業が考える優良顧客は、必ずしも同じ顧客とは限らない。顧客価値は立場によって異なるのである。本発表では、インターネット上で展開されているさまざまなビジネスを、この価値ギャップを埋める代理ビジネスとして捉えなおし、整理しようとするものである。

    Creating new content based on existing original work is becoming popular especially among amateur

    creators
    . Such new content is called derivative work and can be transformed into the next new derivative work. Such derivative work creation is called “N-th order derivative creation.” Although derivative creation is popular, the reason an individual derivative work was created is not observable. To infer the factors that trigger derivative work creation, we have proposed a model that incorporates three factors: (1) original work's attractiveness, (2) original work's popularity, and (3) derivative work's popularity. Based on this model, in this paper, we describe a public web service for browsing derivation factors called Songrium Derivation Factor Analysis. Our service is implemented by applying our model to original works and derivative works uploaded to a video sharing service. Songrium Derivation Factor Analysis provides various visualization functions: Original Works Map, Derivation Tree, Popularity Influence Transition Graph, Creator Distribution Map, and Creator Profile. By displaying such information when users browse and watch videos, we aim to enable them to find new content and understand the N-th order derivative creation activity at a deeper level.

    This study explored the story themes conveyed in temples built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties (1604-1822 AD). In total, 19 temples and 628 story themes were investigated. Content analysis was adopted to compare and contrast the narrative structure of novels and that of the images decorating the temples; in addition, sample analysis was performed using the narrative structure, story element, main patron deity, and story theme.     , it has been becoming popular to create new content based on existing original work: such new content is called derivative work. We know that derivative creation is popular, but why are individual derivative works created? Although there are several factors that inspire the creation of derivative works, such factors cannot usually be observed on the Web. In this paper, we propose a model for inferring latent factors from sequences of derivative work posting events. We assume a sequence to be a stochastic process incorporating the following three factors: (1) the original work's attractiveness, (2) the original work's popularity, and (3) the derivative work's popularity. To characterize content popularity, we use content ranking data and incorporate rank-biased popularity based on the
    creators
    ' browsing behaviors. Our main contributions are three-fold. First, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first study modeling derivative creation activity. Second, by using real-world datasets of music-related derivative work creation, we conducted quantitative experiments and showed the effectiveness of adopting all three factors to model derivative creation activity and considering
    creators
    ' browsing behaviors in terms of the negative logarithm of the likelihood for test data. Third, we carried out qualitative experiments and showed that our model is useful in analyzing following aspects: (1) derivative creation activity in terms of category characteristics, (2) temporal development of factors that trigger derivative work posting events, (3) creator characteristics, (4) N-th order derivative creation process, and (5) original work ranking.

     The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Echocardiography profile in an environment that included legacy information systems. For this study, we developed an Ultrasound Image and Report Management System that was capable of supporting the IHE echocardiography profile. We then implemented this system at the real clinical environment and integrated it with the existing legacy hospital information system, department system, and picture archive and communication system (PACS). A gateway interface was used to convert the proprietary protocol and data from the legacy systems to support the standard HL7 data format and DICOM connectivity used in newer systems. After a year of operation, we evaluated the efficacy of IHE connectivity by collecting questionnaires and performing interviews to compare system performance before and after the integration. The assessment showed that IHE connectivity provided greater accuracy for measurement data as well as for patient and examination information on the report. The conclusion was that IHE connectivity is effective in environments that mix new standards-based systems with existing legacy information systems.

    本研究は,大阪市北区扇町周辺のクリエイター及び関連企業のネットワークを,「バズbuzz」と紐帯の強さの観点から検討することを目的として行った.クリエイターは,案件ごとに制作プロセス内の位置や外注先を柔軟に変えている.彼らの取引ネットワークの多くは,近畿圏という地理的範囲内で形成されている.特に,クリエイター同士の取引ネットワークは,クライアントとのそれに比べて濃密な意思疎通が必要であるため,相対的に狭い地理的範囲で形成されやすい.また,クリエイターは,リスクを回避するために既存の人脈を通じて新たな取引関係を形成することが多い.さらに,ネットワークを形成する契機は,その種類ごとに地理的な差異が存在する.一方,非取引ネットワークは,取引を前提としない対面接触の場を通じて醸成されるが,そうしたコミュニケーションを通じて,異分野のクリエイターとの協業や,暗黙知の共有,クリエイター間での相互触発,クリエイターに関する評価などが行われている.その一方で,非取引ネットワークは,クリエイター自身が評価され選別される場であるともいえる.クリエイターのネットワークは,「バズ」が有効に機能し,強い紐帯のみならず弱い紐帯を通じて取引関係を拡大しているといえる.したがって,クリエイターがネットワークを拡大する利点は大きく,これが扇町周辺にクリエイターを集中させる要因になっていると考えられる.

    create “kawaii characters”, they often pay more attention to the characteristic of the characters as the readers often focus on the characters’ faces when they judge a character as “kawaii character”.

    筆者らは,これまでの制作実践と研究活動から,学術的な内容の視覚化(アカデミック・ビジュアリゼーション)を制作者と研究者の共同制作として実施することが望ましいと考えている.多くのアカデミック・ビジュアリゼーションのデザインプロセスでは,初期の工程において制作物の仕様が決定しておらず,制作者は研究者との対話によって,要求仕様を明らかにし,制作物の完成度や満足度を向上させている.このため,制作者には,研究者(ユーザー)の潜在的な要求を対話的に明らかにすることができるファシリテーションスキルが必要である.本発表では,研究者と制作者の対話内容を当事者視点で分析省察することで,制作者は,自身が必要な研究者に潜在する要求仕様を理解するために,研究者に要求仕様の言語化を直接的に促すだけでなく,間接的な発言により研究者を観察し,必要な情報をインプットする意識が働くと考えられる.

    The Tohoku Reconstruction & Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Pavilion at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction was designed to provide information on and ideas about the great East Japan earthquake (GEJE) disaster and the reconstruction efforts and lessons learned from it. Disseminating information on disaster and reconstruction is essential to achieving DRR by multistakeholders through sharing knowledge such as objective perspectives, the historical background of disaster responses and the reality of reconstruction. The pavilion’s original production structure lacked a scheme unifying strong regional institutions such as the International Research Institute of Disaster Science and local creative talent. The original pavilion proposal also did not convey the disaster’s multiple facets. The Sendai School of Design (SSD) served as an intermediate platform for unifying academic knowledge, regional creative professionals and local bodies. The SSD designed and produced a pavilion for the diverse visitors from different backgrounds, literacy, experience and language with the local oriented production structure for dissemination directed by T. Iwasawa with the supervision by Y. Onoda. Effective dissemination enhances awareness and helps promote the DRR and implement reconstruction through the sharing of information. The local oriented production structure proved to effectively organize local power and knowledge for this purpose.

    本研究では、特定のテーマに着目し制作した動物園の案内マップについて、動物園での観覧体験を高揚感・達成感・難易度の3つの軸を基に評価する「気持ち温度計」のツールを用い、案内マップの制作者による期待評価と、案内マップを手に観覧する第三者による実評価との比較検討を行った。その結果、マップに記載されている情報が新たな発見につながる効果や、マップに記載はなくともマップに設定されたテーマ自体が観察の仕方自体に示唆を与えるといった効果が見られること等がわかった。

    本研究では、特定のテーマ・目的をもって動物園内を巡るためのガイドマップの制作と、ガイドマップを用いた観覧時の主観評価・分析した結果について報告する。制作者が来園者に期待する主観評価と、ガイドマップを手に実際に観覧した第三者による主観評価との比較分析を行った。制作したガイドマップを用いることが、来園者が新たな知識を得るのに効果的であることを示すとともに、提案したガイドマップの問題点や改善点についても議論する。

    Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) programs, designed for graduate students aspiring to become faculty members, have been started with the objective of helping students acquire practical teaching knowledge and skills in Japan. In order to provide graduate students with additional opportunities to reflect on the comprehensive activities associated with their teaching, research, and career paths, this study develops a Graduate Student Academic Portfolio (GSAP). The GSAP contains a document that summarizes a student's activities, accomplishments, and future goals, together with any necessary support materials, in a manner that is easily understood by third parties. Further, in a workshop designed to help students create a GSAP, seven graduate students participated and created their own portfolios. Following the workshop, questionnaires were distributed to the participants, who commented on and evaluated the workshop and GSAP creation process very positively. These responses suggest that the GSAP can serve as an effective tool for reflection in PFF programs.

    This study proposes acknowledging that open collaboration as the one of design activities and that the open collaboration has different features compared to the conventional, ownership-based designing activities. Initially, the cases of open collaboration projects were collected and they were divided into 3 types based on their commonalities. Among Competitive type, Hierarchical type, and Heterogeneous type, founded Heterogeneous type is the most similar to the solution generation process of conventional design activity, and thus chose it as the main object of this research. The grounded theory method, a qualitative approach, has been employed to analyze the context in which the selected 1,065 game creature designs of Spore was created by the participants of Sporepedia, as it corresponds to Heterogeneous type. The following elements turned out to be the key factors through which the participants acquire design activity: Unlimited copy and modification; the influence of "celebrities" who improve the level of design quality and participation; and collaborative activities, such as creature contest.

    In photo-based line drawing rendering, existing algorithms often rely on edge information, leading to rendering that neglects the line density in real line drawings. This study proposes a Line Generative Adversarial Network (LineGAN) model to transform photos into manga-style line drawings by emphasizing line densities while minimizing the influence of edge information, resulting in more realistic line drawings. The LineGAN model coordinates global structure and local detail features, considering the spatial position and inter-channel contributions. This approach helps us to finely control the generation of lines, resulting in more artistic and expressive manga line effects. In addition, we collected an aligned dataset and developed two data-driven tools for creating interactive line drawings. Experiments have proven that LineGAN can produce superior manga line drawings compared to existing methods. Consequently, our model offers artists and designers an effective approach to craft high-quality manga-style line drawings.

    This paper describes a web database system that stores specific human emotional motion data sets for 3D CG short animation. An evaluation of sample 3D CG animation movies produced by two
    creators
    with and without the proposed database showed the following results: (1) production time is drastically reduced to less than one-fifth of the conventional production time by using the developed system, and (2) the coincidence ratio between the creator's intended emotional motion and the audience's impression was more than 80%, which indicates that the proposed system generates good nonverbal communication in 3D CG animation.

    Layout of digital comic applications (apps) can be broadly classified into horizontal scrolling and vertical scrolling in Japan. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on digital comic reading activities and layout preferences in digital comics. Regarding the apps layout, vertical scrolling accounted for 58% in apps associated with Korean webtoon apps. On the other hand, horizontal scrolling layout accounted for 95% in apps associated with a Japanese publishing company. The results of the survey showed that paper-based comic was the most preferred, followed by apps and e-books. The horizontal scrolling layout was most preferred while using digital comic apps. Regarding the readability of the apps, more respondents indicated that horizontal scrolling layout with a single-page was easier to read than that with a double-page and vertical scroll layout.
