    Trigonotylus caelestialium(Kirkaldy)(hereafter referred to as T.c.)and Stenotus rubrovittatus(Matsumura)(hereafter referred to as S.r.)(Hemiptera: Miridae)are major rice pests that cause pecky rice. Two Japanese companies, Shin-

    Etsu
    Chemical Co. Ltd. and Earth Biochemical Co. Ltd., have commercialized synthetic sex pheromones as lures for these two species for monitoring purposes. These lures differ in their chemical composition and the dispenser material used for each species. To elucidate the differences between the products in their attractiveness to males, we investigated T.c. and S.r. catches using traps baited with the lure products alone or in combination in paddy fields. When the products were used alone, the number of male T.c. catches was not significantly different between the traps baited with the Shin-
    Etsu
    product and those baited with the Earth Biochemical product, whereas the number of male S.r. catches in the traps baited with the Earth Biochemical product was significantly lower than that in the traps baited with the Shin-
    Etsu
    product. Moreover, with the combined use of either product for T.c. and the Earth Biochemical product for S.r., T.c. catches were significantly lower than in those combined with the Shin-

    product for S.r. In conclusion, for S.r., the attractiveness of the Earth Biochemical product was inferior to that of the Shin-

    product; furthermore, this product when used in combination with the product for T.c. inhibited the attractiveness for T.c.

    Nagata Chosen (1872-1937) was a sinologist and one of the last qin _??_ Players to inherit the qin tradition of Toko-zenji Shin'
    etsu
    (Ch. Xin-yue _??__??_, 1639-1712), the founder of the qin tradition in Japan. Nagata Chosen, named Takashige, styled Shijun, with the literary name Chosen and the common name Junjiro, was born in the village of Minami Toyoshima, Toyonogun, Osaka-fu, on 20 January, 1872. He studied sinology and was excellent at composing Chinese poems. He began his study of the qin under the instruction of Obata Shoha (1855-1936) and later mastered the instrument under Mega Yusho (1826-1896). In the drafts of his lectures on the music of the qin he called himself the eighth descendant in the Kansai district of the qin tradition of Shin'
    etsu
    . Engaging in earnest research into the history of the qin and its music in both China andJapan, he tried to maintain and promote the qin tradition through his lectures and broadcasting.
    Chosen's qin materials which are now preserved at the Research Archives for Japanese Music, Ueno Gakuen College, are classified into the following three groups: (1) printed qin handbooks; (2) hand-written qin manuscripts; and (3) drafts for his lectures and broadcasts, letters, genealogies of the qin tradition of Shin'
    etsu
    , and other miscellaneous documents.
    (1) Only three printed qin handbooks are preserved: a part of the Qin-xue-cong-shu _??__??__??__??_ (Qin-sui _??__??_4 vols., Qin-hua _??__??_4 vols., Qin-bu _??__??_3 vols.), the Cheng-yi-dang-qin-bu-da-chuan _??__??__??__??__??__??__??_, and the Qin-xue-ru-men _??__??__??__??_.
    (2) (a) Nine manuscripts which can be ascribed to Chosen's transcription, including five of (J.) Toko-kimpu _??__??__??__??_. (b) (J.) Dankin _??__??_ by Matsui Yuseki (1859-1926) and two manuscripts of Toko-kimpu once owned by Ga Reishi. The transcribers of these manuscripts are unknown.
    (3) Some drafts for broadcasts and lectures madethrough Osaka Chuo Broadcasting Corporation on 29 May, 1927, and read at the Buddhist Hall in Osaka on 2 November, 1935. Among five letters three were addressed to Chosen by Matsui Yuseki, and mention the sources of some qin handbooks. One of the three genealogical tables of the qin tradition after Shin'
    etsu
    is written very precisely with concise remarks on each qin performer, and emphasises the tradition of the Kansai district. Among miscellaneous documents are: the program for a concert in memory of Shin'
    etsu
    held at the Kanzanji temple in Osaka on 4 November, 1926; letters of invitation to the concert; an article concerning the concert taken from the newspaper Geijutsu-tsushin, issue of 15 November, 1926; and so on.
    His intensely scholarly attitude towards the investigation of many qin handbooks and the correction of errors in hand-writing in the manuscripts give evidence of his accomplishment on the instrument. The drafts made for his lectures and broadcasts also illustrate his enthusiastic inquiry into the history and techniques of qin music. Yuseki's letters to Chosen suggest that they were close friends and that Chosen was greatly assisted by Yuoseki's knowledge of the qin tradition and of qin handbooks. Yuseki wrote Dankin, a book in two volumes on qin music and qin players in Japan. This book seems not to have been published, but was copied and preserved by Chosen and Obata Shoun, the eldest son of Shoha, although the second volume is not found in Chosen's qin materials.

    In this paper we consider a novel type of cubature formulas called operator-type cubature formulas. The notion originally goes back to a famous work by G. D. Birkhoff in 1906 on Hermite interpolation problem. A well-known theorem by Sobolev in 1962 on invariant cubature formulas is generalized to operator-type cubature, which provides a systematic treatment of Lebedev's works in the 1970s and some related results by Shamsiev in 2006. We give a lower bound for the number of points needed, and discuss analytic conditions for equality, together with tight illustrations for Laplacian-type cubature.

    ネギの花芽分化に及ぼす温度条件を明らかにすることを目的として, 中生品種の'金長'と'浅黄九条', 晩生品種の'長悦'を用いて, 昼温と夜温の影響を調べた.昼温を20℃として夜温を3∿15℃と変えて20∿60日間の低温処理を行った結果, いずれの品種においても花芽分化は7℃で最も促進され, 次いで3℃で促進された.また, 15℃という比較的高い夜温下でも処理期間を60日まで延長すると, '金長'と'浅黄九条'では50%以上の個体で花芽分化したが, '長悦'では10%の個体でしか分化しなかった.夜温を7.0℃として昼温を7.0∿26.5℃と変えて20∿75日間の低温処理を行った結果, '金長'と'浅黄九条'において, 抽台率は昼温13.5℃と20℃で高く, 昼温7.0℃と26.5℃でわずかに低かった.'長悦'の抽台率はいずれの昼温と処理日数においても'金長'と'浅黄九条'に比べ低かった.それでも, '長悦'の抽台率は昼温7.0℃と13.5℃では75日後に60%以上に達したが, 昼温20.0℃と26.5℃では著しく低く, 特に昼温26.5℃ではほとんど抽台しなかった.したがって, '長悦'では20℃前後で脱春化が起きていると考えられた.以上の結果, ネギの花芽分化最適夜温は, 昼温20℃の場合7℃であること, また'長悦'では20℃前後で脱春化が起こるが, '金長'と'浅黄九条'では26.5℃以下の温度ではほとんど脱春化は起こらないことが明らかとなった.

    In this paper, I address the roles and responsibilities of the faculty members involved in the education of human resources in the engineering field at higher education facilities while briefly overviewing the trends in higher education carried out under the educational policy developed along the lines suggested in the recent report by the Central Council for Education. I give examples of actual practices carried out by the Japanese Society for Engineering Education, which leads engineering education and education for engineers in Japan. Moreover, the ideal directions of the Hokuriku-Shin′
    etsu
    Society for Engineering Education (more concretely, the integration of the membership system with that of the Japanese Society for Engineering Education and revision of the annual membership fee) are clarified considering the comments from individual members in the Hokuriku Shin′
    etsu
    area. Furthermore, the transition of accredited programs of the Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education in response to the internationalization of engineering education and the status of education in this area are also presented.

    ネギの抽だいを抑制して新たな6月どり作型を開発するために,中生品種の'全長','浅黄九条'および晩生品種の'長悦'を用いて,トンネル被覆および16時間日長の長日処理が生育,花芽分化および抽だいに及ぼす影響について調べた.トンネル被覆によって,無被覆に比べ最高気温が20~25℃上昇した.処理期間中の生育はトンネル被覆,長日処理,および両者の組み合わせによって促進された.'長悦'においては,高昼温によって脱春化が誘導され,トンネル被覆単独によって抽だいを抑えることができた.'全長'および'浅黄九条'においては,トンネル被覆単独では抽だいを十分に抑えることはできなかったものの,長日処理との組み合わせによって抽だい率が7~24%にまで低下した.長日処理単独の抽だい抑制効果は'全長'および'浅黄九条'では認められなかったが,'長悦'ではその効果は高く,さらにトンネル披覆との組み合わせによって抽だいは皆無となった.以上のことから,脱春化の誘導に日長が強く関与していること,そして'浅黄九条'のような中生品種の6月どり作型の可能性があることが明らかとなった.また'浅黄九条'の場合,最終的な抽だい率と処理中に調査した花芽の検鏡結果とが一致しなかったことから,高温による花芽のアボーションが発生していたことが示唆された.

    シアナットButyrospennum paradoxum はインドのモウラナットおよびボルネオ島のテンカワンとならぶ熱帯林の産する重要な油脂原料である。西アフリカのサヴァンナ帯に天然に分布し,住民はその種子に含まれる脂肪を食用および灯火に利用してきた。20世紀に入るとナイジェリア北部の重要な産物として,加工された油脂は地域で消費され,種子はヨーロッパ市場に輸出された。しかし第2 次大戦後その地位は急速に失墜し,経済関係のみならず林業関係の文献からもシアナットは姿を消すにいたった。ところがその要因に関しては,ナイジェリア全域で進行しつつあり,今日深刻な社会問題となっている森林破壊に関連づけた推測がなされているにすぎない。
    本研究では,車中からの観察により,樹木そのものは南部のイパダン近辺から北部に国境を接するニジェールに至るまで広汎に見られることを確認するとともに,かつてザリアとならぶ集荷の中心地であったナイジャナ州ピダ近郊の農村を事例にとり,測量および住民に対するヒアリングを行った。その結果,植林は行われていないものの畑地にはシアナットおよびローカスト・ピーンの2 種が選択的に残されており,収穫は女性のみによってなされ,そこからえられる収入は僅かな額にすぎないが,可処分所得を制限されている村の女性にとっては収穫および村に買い付けに来る仲買人への販売は重要な経済活動のひとつであることがわかった。その反面,村には収穫した種子を加工するものはなく,ヒアリングの対象に選んだ34名からなる一族の中では1 名だけが布場で購入したシア・バターを利用していた。また集落に隣接する樹木作物を優先的に配した区画との比較によると,シアナットの単位面積当たりの本数は畑地の方が多いが,平均断面積は40% にすぎないことから,畑地に配された樹木には火入れや枝葉の刈り取りによるストレスがかかっているものと推察される。
    こうしたことから,少なくともナイジャ州では,生産減少の要因は農民による開墾に伴う樹木の伐採ではなく,特に国内需要の低下および大規模農園開発に求められるべきであることがわかる。また住民は彼ら自身にとって有用な樹木は慣習的に残しているが,今後さらなる市場の縮小と燃料材の不足が生じれば,シアナットが伐採の対象となる可能性も危慎される。国公有林地面積が国土のわずか9.8% にすぎないナイジェリアにおいては,シアナットのように住民の生活と深い係わりをもった樹木を,その産物の市場拡大や価格安定化によって間接的に保護するとともに,私有地における樹木密度の拡大を促す諸施策の導入が望まれる。

    The line between Takasaki and Naoetu which belonged to the old Imperial Japanese Railways, and the line between Naoetu and Niigata which belonged to the old Hokuetu Railway Company were laid in Meiji Era to link Kanto areas with Japan Sea coast. After Hokuetu Railway Company was bought by the government, these lines were designated collectively as a Shin-
    etsu
    line. This report describes the history and present state of railway tunnels, taking an example of Shin-
    etsu
    line based on field surveys and historical records. There was on this line some 26 tunnels constructed with Abt track to climb the steep section between Yokogawa and Karuizawa at over Usui Pass. The tunnels between Nagano and Naoetu were constructed in the early stage of tunnel work in Japan, and the tunnels between Naoetu and Niigata were constructed by private railways.
    Through investigations of these tunnels, it has made been clear that the original tunnels were abandoned for reconstruction to be electrified and double-tracked, but most of them have remained in original forms, as a valuable heritage from the Meiji Era.

    By the Median groove running northsouth, the Ou region may be divided into two parts: the U-
    Etsu
    region, and the Ou backbone range. The former contains the Gan-
    Etsu
    Paleozoic mountain land whose northward extension comprises the Akita region which was ever torn and depressed by the pulling force of the Fossa Magna. In the Miocene times the continuous submergence of the floor of the sea and the oil bearing deep sea deposits of the Akita region might be quite due to the pulling of the Echigo Mountain Range which wes dragged by the Kwanto Range of the Fossa Magna.
    But the latter comprises the Paleozoic Abukuma and part of the Kitakami range, of which the former was subjected to the dynamic activity of the Futaba fault running northsouth. In this movement the detached blocks cut by the fault havesunkrapidly within the earth, drawing the transgression sea water but at the same time spouting the Andesite lava. It formed a geosyncline which was filled in the next phase by the abundant gushing mass of Green Tuff. Since then the backbone range has kept on upheaving and the Akita region submergence.
    Both the Futaba fault and the Fossa Magna disturbance may have come from the same origin and be regarded as the manifestation of the Circum-Pacific orogenic energy at that time.

    The silicone rubber is often used as the piping tubes and the sealing gaskets for hot drink circuit in the beverage dispensers and the cup type vending machines. In such industrial equipments, the demand of market has become severe on the taste of beverage in recent years. Thus, ensuring the inertness of these silicone parts to the taste of beverage is the primal task. The silicone rubber tube is generally prepared by extrusion molding method. There are two kinds of rubbers : the organic peroxide cured and the platinum cured silicone rubbers are used for the extrusion molding. In the present study, effect of the post-processing treatments were investigated for the improvement of inertness properties of the silicone rubbers on the taste of beverage. A thorough postcure and following a hot water soaking treatment were found to have advantages for reducing the taste of both kinds of silicon rubbers.
