Uranium mining and milling emit in average 20tCO2 per ton of product. We modeled the impact of different carbon taxes, up to 2050, on the uranium mining industry, and the consequent trickle down effect on utilities and on electricity consumers. Our results showed that for nuclear power to remain competitive, it is essential to reduce its front-end environmental impact.
