This study approaches the problem of the rebuilding of public rented housing, by analyzing the cases accomplished and on-going in Tokyo area to clarify the future difficulties in future rebuilding. Through interviews with undertakers and examination of the documents concerned, this study analyzes the history and the general tendency of the rebuilding enterprises, as well as grasps their actual status. Forthcoming serious difficulties are clearly recognized such as how to endeavor the rebuilding of the dwellings supplied in a tremendous amount in 1970's, which building or which area to start, and if one should proceed to some amelioration work while waiting for the rebuilding to begin.
