Buraku-ji Yakushi-do, located in Otoyo-cho in Kochi Prefecture, was designated as a national treasure in 1904. In 1938, roofing work was completed, and the date of construction was accepted to be 1151. In this report, Zouzou-meiki, a record describing the origin of the building, was investigated; however, the date of construction could not be directly confirmed. A list of drawings from the Meiji era confirmed the existence of the tie beam and the strut built on it, as well as the narrow plane behind the naijin, a building type prevalent in the latter Kamakura period. Thus, the date of construction is considered to be no earlier than the middle of the 12th century and no later than the end of the 13th century.
